The Cleveland Indians have been one of the surprises of the American League this season and today they face the Tampa Bay Rays. Two young good pitchers take the mound. Free MLB pick here.

Betting Preview
MLB odds experts have come out with a total of 8 for this American League matchup like at Pinnacle Sports -105. Although Chris Archer has not been particularly good this season I like for him to keep the Indians in check as well as starter for the Indians Trevor Bauer to continue his good start of the season. For my MLB pick I will take the under in this spot.

Tampa Bay Rays
Chris Archer takes the mound for Tampa Bay and comes in with a 4.60 ERA and 1.44 whip but with career numbers of 3.50 and 1.22. His win loss record of 4-9 is not such a big surprise as he is mostly been 50/50 his career in wins and losses. What is surprising though is his high ERA and overall whip this season despite the fact he is one of the best strikeout pitchers in all of baseball. The main issue has been his flyball and home run rate this season which has been a bit higher than normal for him but he is coming off a good start against San Francisco in which he allowed three earned runs over six innings off of six hits. His hit totals on the season are solid and I believe his high pitching statistic numbers are more of an anomaly and not due to the fact that he is losing his stuff. Don't expect Cleveland, even though they have had some success against him, to do a ton of damage. At the plate Tampa Bay ranks in the bottom third of most categories except for a couple power numbers like ranking rank third in home runs per game and isolated power. However, they do strikeout a lot and could struggle today against a Cleveland starter and bullpen that have been pitching well this season.

Cleveland Indians
Trevor Bauer takes the Hill for Cleveland and comes in with a 3.46 ERA and 1.25 whip and is averaging about seven strikeouts per game. Bauer is having the best season of his career so far and what really might help them today is the fact that he doesn't give up the long ball. This will be important against a Tampa Bay team that is one of the better home run hitting teams in all baseball but Bauer comes in allowing just five homeruns this season in his 10 starts and never allowing more than one per game. In his last three starts he has been lights out allowing just four total earned runs over 22 innings. At the plate Cleveland has been average and rank in about the middle of the league in most categories highlighted by ranking ninth in runs per game and 13th in OPS. What has really bolstered Cleveland this season is a strong bullpen which is one of the better ones in the American League and batters hitting just .228 against them which ranks fourth in the American League.
