Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros
We cashed an Over winner in A.J. Griffin’s last start as part of the current 9-1 Over the total streak that the American League team Texas Rangers have been on in their last 10 games, and Griffin’s return to the mound on Tuesday night should offer up another chance to see runs in bunches against him and the recently overworked Texas bullpen behind him against the Houston Astros. Griffin has been on a downward slide in the last month or so surrendering 25 runs in his last 32 innings pitched and enters this matchup with a 5.52 ERA in 12 road starts for Texas this season. He faced the Astros twice earlier this season and didn’t pitch more than 6 innings in either outing, allowing 5 runs in 11.2 total innings and both of those games cashed Over tickets for their backers and he will likely continue the pattern of Texas starters not eating up innings. All of these have taken its toll on the bullpen which has labored of late to the tune of a 5.70 ERA in their last 10 games.

I expect Houston to score but I don’t expect their starter Brad Peacock to be highly effective against the hot-hitting Texas lineup either. Peacock was called up to the Astros earlier this month and made his first start in the rotation last week in Cleveland working just 3.2 innings while allowing a run on 5 hits and laboring throughout that start. Houston’s bullpen is facing the same issues as Texas with starters that have failed to pitch more than 6 innings in 10 consecutive starts, and only once did a starter complete 6 innings for the Astros during that span so if the Rangers do not get to Peacock early (although I think they will), they certainly could do damage as our MLB pick against the Astros bullpen behind him which has seen a lot of their arms log plenty of innings lately. The Over looks like another solid choice here between the Rangers and Astros on Tuesday night.
