In what I consider is an overrated pitching matchup between the Rangers & the A's. I think both of these teams are primed to have a good day at the plate. Lets review the betting odds for this game.

Rangers & A's MLB Odds
MLB odds makers came out with the total for this game at eight which in my opinion is a little bit too low for this American League contest. You can still get some pretty good odds though at backing over the total across the board because the juice seems to be a bit higher on the under at most places. Right now you can get over the total of eight at Heritage Sports +100 for one of your MLB picks.

Texas Rangers
Colby Lewis takes the mound for the Rangers and comes in with a 4.41 ERA, 1.21 whip, 131 strikeouts, and a 16-8 record. The nine year veteran has actually had a pretty good year compared to his career stats of a 4.77 ERA and 1.36 whip. Against Oakland he has pitched well also allowing just four total earned runs in 27 innings pitched for a 1.33 ERA and 0.70 whip. Just two weeks ago in Texas he threw a great game against the A's allowing zero earned runs off of two hits and nine innings. I look at this spot though with the Athletics getting another shot at him in such a short time, and getting him in their home park. Don't look for him to have another stellar performance against them.

The Rangers rank sixth in the major leagues in runs scored per game at 4.48, 12th in OPS at .731, and 11th in team batting average hitting .255 as a team. They have come out of nowhere to surprise the baseball world and now lead the AL West. It is going to be a fight to the finish for them and I like for them to put up a lot of runs today.

Oakland A's
Felix Doubront takes the mound for Oakland and comes in with a 4.95 ERA, 1.48 whip, 47 strikeouts, and a 3-2 record. He has been the polar opposite of Lewis in this matchup today but in a much smaller sample size. Against the Rangers he has allowed seven earned runs in just four innings with a 2.08 whip. In his last four starts he has pitched somewhat okay allowing four runs, four runs, seven runs (at Texas), and then a decent outing in Houston allowing three earned runs. I doubt he will come out of this game unscathed and look for the Rangers to put up more than a few against him.

Oakland ranks 16th in runs scored per game at 4.26, 24th in OPS at .707, and 16th in batting average hitting .252 as a team. All their offensive stats go up at home, albeit slightly. They have been a really interesting team this year and although they have one of the worst records in baseball they only have a -11 run differential. Just a really quirky season for them. Today they should have some quality at-bats against a pitcher they just recently faced and come in real loose to put up more than a few runs.

Free MLB Pick
For my Over the total MLB pick of the day I like this spot for both of these teams to put up more runs than anticipated. With Oakland just seeing Lewis a couple weeks ago, and the same for Doubront and the Rangers, both these teams should be well acquainted with who is on the mound today. Back the over with confidence.

MLB Pick: Over at Heritage.
