The 2015 Major League Baseball season continues on Thursday with an extended card of day games. What three MLB picks from the afternoon slate are your best bets on Thursday?

Seattle Mariners vs. Baltimore Orioles: Thursday, 12:35 PM ET
The pitching matchup here is an interesting one. J.A. Happ, formerly of the Toronto Blue Jays, will take the bump for the Mariners with a 2.98 ERA. Chris Tillman, with a 6.34 ERA, goes to the mound for Baltimore. The matchup is intriguing because one would have rated Tillman better than Happ a year ago, but this year, roles have been reversed, with Happ clearly setting the right tone and putting up better numbers. Happ is a bit of a mystery, in that in his last four starts, he’s generally been solid, allowing only one run in three of those outings. However, in the fourth one, he gave up six runs. Tillman, though, has given up a total of nine runs in his last two games, four runs on May 7 and then five runs on May 12. Happ is not a sure thing in this matchup, but he’s ultimately more consistent than Tillman. You should go with Seattle for your Thursday MLB picks.

MLB Pick: Seattle

Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers: Thursday, 1:08 PM ET
Scott Feldman starts for Houston, with a 5.06 ERA. He saw his ERA skyrocket earlier in the year when he gave up eight runs on April 13. His ERA was above six runs, so seeing that number at 5.06 right now means he’s been decent, but not great, since then. Feldman gave up three runs in 6 2/3 innings in his most recent start. That’s solid, but not spectacular. He has, for the most part, been a three-run, six-inning pitcher in a majority of his past seven starts, so that’s probably what you should expect here against the Detroit Tigers.

Detroit’s starter is staff ace David Price. If you look at Price’s numbers this season, he has a 3.40 ERA, but it’s been the result of up-and-down performances, as opposed to steady outings. Price will throw a gem every now and then, as on May 2 against Kansas City or April 17 against the Chicago White Sox, but then he’ll give up five runs in 6 1/3 innings or something like that, as he did against the Royals on May 8. Price is so erratic that Feldman, at this rate, might be the better bet. One thing you also need to keep in mind is that the Tigers have failed to score three runs in 19 games this season, the largest such number in the majors. Take Houston as a MLB betting odds underdog.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets: Thursday, 1:10 PM ET
Jaime Garcia starts for the Cardinals, while Jacob deGrom starts for the Mets. Garcia is coming off the 15-day disabled list and will be making his first start of the season. DeGrom has a 3.21 ERA and gave up just one run in six innings in his last start. This is a clear call in favor of the Mets.

MLB Pick: New York Mets
