Today's game between the Detroit Tigers and the Tampa Bay Rays is a prime example of why expert handicapper's like Ross Benjamin are valuable for MLB bettors.

Sensational Scherzer
After enduring a horrific start on June 17th versus Kansas City, Max Scherzer has been absolutely sensational since then. In his last 10-starts he’s posted an excellent 1.78 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and a 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. During his most recent 2-starts, he allowed just 1 earned run, struck out 25, and walked 2 in 16.0 innings of work. Since the start of the 2012 season Scherzer has gone 4-0 against the money versus the Rays with a stellar 2.25 ERA, a microscopic 0.71 WHIP, and a better than 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. Scherzer will be facing an opponent this evening which is hitting .252 as a team on the season. He’s gone an extremely profitable 29-7 against the money during the past 2-seasons versus an American League opponent that’s hitting .260 or less.

Archer Pitching Very Well of Late
The Rays Chris Archer enters tonight in very good form over his last 3-starts by posting a shining 2.37 ERA, a better than 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio, and went a perfect 3-0 against the money. As a matter of fact, the Rays right-hander has allowed 2 earned runs or less in 12 of his last 16-starts. He’s gone 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA against the money in his career versus Detroit, and both starts have occurred since 2013.

Tigers are Feeling the Heat
The Tigers at one time this season seemed to have a very comfortable lead in the AL Central. However, they’ve since been passed by the surging Kansas City Royals for the division lead, and by the red-hot Seattle Mariners for the final wild card spot in the American League. Detroit has gone just 13-19 over their previous 32-games, and 39-45 during the last 84-games. Despite that extended bout with mediocrity, they’re very much alive in both the pennant race in the AL Central, and for an AL wild card spot.

Rays Climbing an Uphill Battle
The Rays have been attempting recovery from a terrible 24-40 start to the season for the better part of two months now. They’ve managed to go 37-23 since that point, but still find themselves 10.0 games behind the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East, and 6.5-games behind Seattle for the final wild card spot. The Rays have been better on the road (33-29) than at home (28-34) this season. The Tampa pitching has been terrific over the last couple of weeks. Tampa has allowed 3-runs or less in 13 of their previous 14-games, and they’ve seen just 5 of their last 21 go over the total.

MLB Betting System
Any home team which has MLB betting odds of +125 to -125 on the money line that averages 4.2 or less runs per game, and they’re coming off 2 straight losses by 2-runs or less in each game, versus an American League opponent with a starting pitcher who has an ERA of 4.20 or less, is 34-13 (72.7%) during the past 18-seasons.
