We’ll be sharing our two best MLB totals on Thursday’s card in this betting preview article. Go inside to read our reasoning behind picks in games between Philadelphia/Miami and Detroit/Texas.

Phillies (Williams) vs. Marlins (Hand) 7:10 PM ET
Jerome Williams has gone 2-9 in his road team starts this season with a large 6.47 ERA and 1.64 WHIP. Williams has made two starts versus Miami in 2015, compiling a 4.09 ERA and poor 1.64 WHIP during those outings. The Phillies have gone 31-19-3 over the total in their last fifty-three games.

Brad Hand has an unimpressive 4.71 ERA in four starts this year. Miami has been red hot offensively of late, scoring a combined 28 runs and amassing 46 hits during its previous four games. They’ve also gone 14-3-1 over the total during their last eighteen.

This will be the tenth meeting of the season between these two NL East rivals. They’ve seen just two of their first nine encounters stay under the total. I like this game to be a high scoring affair for one of my MLB picks on Thursday.

MLB Pick: Phillies and Marlins over 8.0 (+100) at Heritage.

Rangers (Perez) vs. Tigers (Simon) 7:08 PM ET
Martin Perez has a lofty 4.24 ERA and 1.71 WHIP during three road starts in 2015. Perez has made one career start at Comerica Park in Detroit, and it turned out to be a lousy performance. That outing came on 7/14/2013, and he allowed 5 earned runs while surrendering 3 homers in just 5 1/3 innings pitched. Texas enters today averaging 5.9 runs per game, possessing a stellar .301 team batting average in addition to an excellent .855 OPS during their previous seven contests.

Alfredo Simon has displayed bad form over his previous three starts, evidenced by his large 7.27 ERA in those outings. The Tigers hurler has also struggled in his last four starts at Comerica Park, posting a terrible 7.77 ERA and 1.81 WHIP. The Tigers bats have come alive in their previous three games, scoring a combined 30 runs during that time, and also banging out an impressive 49 hits. Needless to say all three of those games went over the total. Detroit has gone 17-3 over the total this season following three or more games in a row surpassing the number.

This one has all the earmarks of a high scoring game. It’s 5Dimes that provides the best value for my totals wager pertaining to this affair.

MLB Pick:  Rangers and Tigers over 9.5 (-103)
