The Tigers and the Athletics start a three-game series in Oakland. The Tigers are at +100 on the MLB odds board while the Athletics are at -110 and the total has been set at 7.5.

Tigers vs. Athletics Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers saw their three-game winning streak end with last Wednesday's 3-2 home loss against the Cleveland Indians. The Tigers (14-13) are now in fourth place in the AL Central, one game behind the Indians.

The Tigers rank 8th in the majors with 132 runs scored, 13th with a .248 batting average and 13th with 32 home runs. Detroit has MLB-worsts with a 4.83 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP but they rank second with 17 quality starts. Justin Upton leads the team with a .275 batting average, five home runs and 15 RBI, James McCann has five home runs and 11 RBI and Miguel Cabrera has four home runs and 11 RBI.

Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics snapped a three-game losing streak with yesterday's 8-5 road win against the Minnesota Twins. The A's are now 12-16, 6.5 games behind the Astros in the AL West standings.

The Athletics currently rank 29th in the majors with 96 runs scored, 27th with a .228 batting average and 11th with 33 home runs. Oakland is 22nd in MLB with a 4.47 ERA, 11th with a 1.28 WHIP and 14th with 13 quality starts. Khris Davis leads the A's with 10 home runs and 18 RBI, Jed Lowrie is hitting .296 and Yonder Alonso has a .295 batting average with six home runs and 17 RBI.

Pitching Matchup
Michael Fulmer (2-1, 3.19 ERA) vs. Andrew Triggs (4-1, 1.84 ERA)

Michael Fulmer got a no-decision after allowing three runs over six innings of a 4-3 loss against the White Sox last Saturday. Fulmer was scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Indians but it was postponed due to rain, so he's getting an extra day of rest.

The right-hander is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in two road starts but he was 1-0 against the A's last season, giving up zero runs in 7 2/3 innings of work and he is 9th in the majors with a 1.00 WHIP.

Andrew Triggs threw seven scoreless innings against the Astros last Saturday, striking out nine. The right-hander is third in the American League with four wins and fifth with an impressive 0.92 WHIP and he is 2-1 with a 3.31 ERA in three home starts. Triggs posted a 4.50 ERA in two innings over two relief appearances against the Tigers last season.

Betting Trends

The Tigers are 23-15 ATS when playing with a day off over the last three seasons, 11-5 in Michael Fulmer's last 16 road starts and 7-2 in Michael Fulmer's last nine starts against a team with a losing record.

The Athletics are 7-12 in night games, 7-11 against right-handed starters and 2-6 when playing against a team with a winning record.

Final Analysis

The A's might be favored to win this game on the MLB odds boards but their offense has been a disaster this season and Fulmer dominated them last year and he's pitched better as of late. Oakland is just 2-10 in their last 12 home games against teams with a winning record and Triggs is not too familiar with this Detroit lineup. There's great value on the Tigers at +100 for our MLB picks
