The World Series between the New York Mets & Kansas City Royals begins tonight and what a matchup it is. Most expect New York to win, can KC defy the odds once again and this time win it all?

Home Field Advantage
The home field advantage is decided by the All-Star Game winner and the American League came out on top this season, giving the Royals the advantage, but I find it very hard for Kansas City to run through Matt Harvey, Jacob, deGrom, and Noah Syndergaard like through hot knife through butter. In fact the Mets 3rd best starter is better than any starter on the Royals pitching staff. I would've put Johnny Cueto into the equation, but he has been a disaster this season. There is no home field advantage when the Mets carry the best starting pitching staff in the MLB in decades.

Matt Harvey vs.Edison Volquez
Volquez is a starter with a lot of experience and that helps, but he can't match the talent of Matt Harvey. There will be no innings limit as this is the Fall Classic.

Harvey comes into this game with a tremendous amount of momentum despite pitching on the road. He picked up a win in the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers and a win against the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS against the Cubs. In all, Harvey is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA in the post season. I look for him to pitch well here. If you go by pure talent, he's clearly the best pitcher out of these two ball clubs.

Edison Volquez is coming off of a poor performance against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays backs were up against the wall and they remained in the series in a game that Volquez pitched average at best. Maybe the home town Kansas City fans can give him a boost, but he's going to need more than that as the Mets are coming off of a clean sweep against the Chicago Cubs and look unbeatable.

Daniel Murphy
The question is "Can Daniel Murphy continue his hot hitting in the post-season?' There is no other player that has ever hit like this in the playoffs.

Carlos Beltran was stupendous as a member of the Houston Astros as he went crazy in the playoffs and Reggie Jackson hit 3 home runs in a World Series game, but Daniel Murphy, a player that had 12 home runs all season long, had home runs in 6 consecutive game and 7 games overall. It seemed like everytime I put a Mets playoff game on, Murph hit another bomb.

In 38 at-bats, Daniel Murphy is hitting .421 with 7 HR and 11 RBI. He also leads the team with 11 runs in 9 games played. Murphy is known for making bone-headed decisions in the field, but he has turned into a confident hitting machine. I don't think that he can keep up this pace, but if he does half of what he's done in the playoffs, the Mets will take it. He's a humble, quiet leader on the Mets squad.

Pitching should take centerstage in this game as you have the young phenom in Harvey and the the veteran in Volquez. Under the total is our game 1 MLB pick.
