It's getting hot and heavy in the MLB with a lot of close races in each respective division. Speaking of hot; the weather is 90 degrees plus in a majority of the United States and that can mean that the baseball will carry. How or will this affect us when picking our player betting props? Let's find out.

Mets vs. Nationals
Total Strikeouts For Jacob deGrom
Over 6.5 -115
Under 6.5 -115
There is no question that deGrom is "da man" in the Mets pitching rotation as Steven Matz is injured and Matt Harvey has been more than hittable. deGrom faces a tough Washington Nationals squad and with Ian Desmond in the lineup, that's an automatic 2 to 3 strikeouts. Aside from Desmond, deGrom had been underperforming lately where strikeouts are concerned, but he throw up a 10 spot against the Giants before the All-Star Break. The Mets desperately need a huge performance out of deGrom and I for one, don't expect him to disappoint. Take the over.

MLB Pick- Over 6.5 -115

Will Daniel Murphy Record a Hit? Yes -250... No +195
This can be a real "make or break" prop as Murphy hasn't been the same player this season. It's not that he doesn't get hits, but when he looks bad at the plate or in the field, he can look like a minor leaguer. Murphy has picked up a hit in each of his last 3 games, but is just 3 for 16 in that period of time. Actually, Murphy has hit safely in 6 out of his last 7 games with no multiple hit games included. I'm dying to take the no option and we're going to do so, but I urge you to make the bet "a fun, small wager" as Murphy is no slouch.

MLB Pick- No +195

Cubs vs. Reds
Will Joey Votto Record a Hit?
Yes -300... No +240
These are steep MLB odds and that's because Votto is an above average, reliable major league baseball player. There's a real catch here as Votto was held hitless in his last game, but did pick up 2 walks and a run. Prior to that, he was 6 for his last 8. He's a game changer that will get on base even if he doesn't get a hit, Hammel is the pitcher and the Reds are playing at home in an inter-division battle. Big players come up big in spots such as this and I expect Votto to deliver.

MLB Pick- Yes -300

Cardinals vs. White Sox
Will Jason Heyward Record a Hit? Yes -200... No - +160
Heyward has been sensational for the Red birds after a stint with the Braves and is living up to expectations. In his most recent series, he was 7 for 9 against the New York Mets. He's been the model of efficiency on a first place team. The odds are very reasonable in a situation like this. If this prop was a 2014 prop, I would say "No", but this is 2015. The answer is "Yes".

MLB Pick- Yes -200

Rangers vs. Rockies
Total Strikeouts For Kyle Kendrick

Over 4 +120
Under 4 -150
We have one of these great Coors matchups and although it doesn't help to have Coors Field as his home park, Kyle Kendrick has been a flatout disaster with double digit losses. The only way for the Rockies to win games is for Charlie Blackmon, Troy Tulowitzki, or Nolan Arenado to have a huge game and carry Kendrick.

In this prop, we're talking about strikeouts and Kendrick has only had over 4 strikeouts in 1 out of his last 10 starts. I like that trend even though the bettor must lay a bit of juice. Under is the play. Worst case scenario is a push.
