Let's take a look at some of the betting options in Wednesday's MLB prop market. With a ton of runs being scored in blowouts yesterday, could we see a repeat performance today?
Rays vs. Nationals: Will Bryce Harper Record A Hit?
Far and away, Bryce Harper has been the most productive hitter in the major leagues this season. I kind of figured that his batting average would drop, but that hasn't been the case as Harper is coming off of a 3 hit game against the Rays to raise his average to .346 on the season with 22 HR and 52 RBI. Harper has picked up a hit in 6 of his last 7 games. I'm going to follow the trend with baseball's best hitter and take the over and lay the juice.
MLB Pick- Yes -250
Marlins vs. Yankees: Total Hits + Runs + Runs Batted In For Giancarlo Stanton
Over 2.5 +170
Under 2.5- 140
The only difference between Stanton and Harper is that Harper is hitting for average. That said, Stanton plays in one of the toughest home run hitting parks in Marlins Stadium.
Tonight, Gio faces "Pinetar" Pineda, who is one of the Yankees best pitchers. The Yankees will look to get revenge on the Marlins as Miami destroyed the Bombers on Tuesday. Even though Stanton has hit safely in his last 9 games, MLB odds makers don't think that Stanton will hit above 2.5 in this prop due to the fact that Pineda is a tough customer. Even though Pineda is a tough customer, Stanton is the most powerful and talented player in the game. Take the over at an appealing price.
MLB Pick- Over 2.5 +170
Mets vs. Blue Jays: Total Strikeouts For Drew Hutchinson
Over 4.5 -150
Under 4.5 +120
I always tend to favor Hutchinson in most matchups at the Rogers Centre. Tonight he get's an up and coming Mets team. Hutchinson hasn't pitched so well as of late and this could be a crap shoot. I don't see a "in the middle" here. Either Hutchinson has a huge performance or a poor one. I'm leaning towards the Mets in this game despite the fact that New York is more effective at Citi Field. Take the under in a small play.
MLB Pick- Under 4.5 +120
Total Runs, Hits, and Runs Batted In For Freddie Freeman
Over 2.5 +110
Under 2.5 +140
Freeman is a 2nd tier hitter where talent is concerned. He's currently on a 6 game hitting streak and is capable of getting a hit, getting an extra bast hit, hitting a home run, and knocking in a run in any game. The over looks good here despite the fact that this will have to be done at Fenway Park. Take the over on Freeman.
MLB Pick- Over 2.5 +110
Total Strikeouts For Felix Hernandez
Over 6 -125
Under 6 -105
I love games like this as odds makers have totally lost faith in Hernandez off of one crummy outing. That said, King Felix hasn't been as overpowering this season as he was in the past.
This is one of those props that can go either way, but I'm going to side with the over as I expect this to be a statement game for Hernandez. He's going to have to accomplish this against a tough customer in the defending World Champion San Francisco Giants, but with the support of the fans in a pitcher-friendly Safeco Park, I look for King Felix to eclipse the 6 strikeout mark.
MLB Pick- Over 6 -125
