There are a lot of great pitchers taking the mound, and in one game particular we'll have a showdown between Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner. Our top MLB picks are inside.
San Francisco Giants (Bumgarner) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (Kershaw)
What a matchup this is going to be. We've got the two best left-handed pitchers in the game going at it tonight, as the Giants and Dodgers meet up in game two of the series.
San Francisco took the opener thanks to a quality outing from Tim Lincecum and the offense picking up some timely hits on Chase Anderson and LA's bullpen, with Anderson lasting only four innings in the end. Justin Maxwell had the best day at the plate, registering a home run and a triple in the Giants victory. Lincecum allowed five hits and one run over six innings of solid work.
Now we get the pitching duel that we've been waiting for: Clayton Kershaw up against Madison Bumgarner. The MLB odds currently have Kershaw and the Dodgers listed as -135 favorites, with teh Giants at +130 and the total at a miniscule six runs.
We know what both of these guys bring to the table, so it's no surprise to see the total so low. However, there's a reason Los Angeles is the firm favorite here despite being the road team - the Dodgers have simply been playing the much better baseball overall, as their 9-4 record would indicate. San Francisco has struggled to a 5-10 start and have been a team to avoid in the early stages of the 2015 season.
With that said, we are going to jump on this depressed price and back the better pitcher and team. It's not often we can take Kershaw at such a low number, and though Bumgarner is more than capable of shutting down this lineup, we feel better about LA's chances of securing the W.

Arizona Diamondbacks (Bradley) vs. Texas Rangers (Gallardo)
We stay out west, this time in Arizona where the Diamondbacks will play host to the Rangers. At the moment, the MLB betting lines show the Diamondbacks favored at right around -110, so there's not much in it according to oddsmakers. We find a much higher total here though, as the O/U is at 8.5 runs.
Arizona will roll out Archie Bradley this evening, a highly touted prospect who has looked strong through his first two starts of the year. Bradley opened things up by out-pitching Clayton Kershaw, allowing just one hit over six innings in a win over the Dodgers. Five days later he held San Francisco down, surrendering four hits and two runs over 6 and 2/3 innings, though he had to settle for a no decision. Still, it looks like Arizona found a good one in Bradley.
We will have Yovani Gallardo on the mound for Texas this evening, and he's already pitched three times this season. He owns a 3.45 ERA, thanks in large part to a solid latest outing which saw him pitch six scoreless innings in a winning road decision over Seattle. This is Gallardo's first season in Texas and he's trying to make a good first impression with his new club. The Diamondbacks have been lighting the world on fire at the plate, but they have some big bats that can go off, namely Paul Goldshmidt. Gallardo will have to be at his best tonight.
When it comes to tonight, though, we believe Arizona is the right side with our MLB picks at home.
The Diamondbacks have the home-field advantage and also have the edge pitching-wise, so we feel confident in their chances and like the price attached to their heads. Side with Arizona at this appealing number.
