San Diego began this season with great expectations, but just fired its manager. Do we bank on an immediate turnaround with the Padres? Or play the fade?

A's-Padres Tuesday Betting Odds
The best price in early MLB odds we could find on Oakland and Scott Kazmir was the -109 offered at Heritage, while San Diego and Andrew Cashner could be found getting +105 at GT Bets.

<a href="" target="_blank" title="Red Sox Favored Over Braves? The A's (27-39) have won four of their last six games, while San Diego (32-34) has lost five of its last seven, and just fired its manager.

Oakland has also scored 17 runs in its last two games, while the Padres have tallied just eight runs over their last four games.

Tuesday's Starters
Cashner (2-8, 4.16) is seven-for-13 on quality starts this season, but 0 for his last three. Last Thursday he gave up four runs in 6 2/3 innings against Atlanta, and over his last three starts he's been nicked for 16 earned runs through 17 innings. On the season San Diego is just 4-9 in Cashner's starts, with the totals leaning OVER 7-5.

This will be Cashner's first-ever start against Oakland.

Kazmir (3-4, 2.79) is six-for-12 on quality starts, but only one for his last five. However, that one was a dandy, last Thursday, when he held Texas scoreless on one hit through eight innings. Still, Oakland is just 4-8 in Kazmir's starts this year, with the totals leaning OVER by a 7-4 margin.

This will be Kazmir's first start against San Diego since 2007, when he was with Tampa Bay.

Tuesday's Batting Splits
Oakland ranks sixth in the Majors this season against right-handed pitching with a .325 team OBP, while San Diego ranks ninth against lefties with a .320 team OBP.

A's-Padres Tuesday Free Picks
Oakland is playing a little better ball as of late, while San Diego seems like a ship adrift at the moment. Our play today is more of a fade against the Padres than MLB picks on the A's. Also, while both starting pitchers are leaning OVER this season, neither lineup is familiar with them. So we're thinking UNDER.

MLB Picks: Oakland -109 at Heritage and UNDER 6.5 runs at 5Dimes
