Philly has taken a bite out of Washington by winning the first two games of this series, beating us out of two free MLB picks. We'll try to get back on a winning track when Game 3 of this series rolls around Saturday night (7:05 pm ET).

Saturday's Betting Odds
Early Saturday morning the best price we could find on Washington and Jordan Zimmerman was the -192 offered at BetOnline, while Philly and AJ Burnett could be found at +188 at 5Dimes. The Nationals could also be bet on the run line at around +105.

And most books were listing the total on today's game at 7.5 runs.

Friday Re-Hash
Philly got eight very nice innings from starter Roberto Hernandez and a solo homer from Marlon Byrd, his 21st dinger of the year, for a 2-1 victory. The Phillies won as +200 underdogs on Friday's MLB betting board, and the game stayed 'under' its total of 7.5 runs.

We backed Washington on the run line for our free MLB pick for Friday, but while starter Doug Fister did his job, the Nats' bats did not. But in betting the run line, while losing, we also saved ourselves over $100.

The Nationals haven't hit a home run since Adam LaRoche connected 11 days ago.

Saturday's Starters
This pitching match-up is a rematch of a game played back on July 11, a 6-2 Philly victory.

Zimmerman (6-5, 3.17) is 11/21 on quality starts this season, but only one for his last three. Last time out he held Miami to two runs through seven innings, but in his two starts previous to that he had allowed eight runs and 14 hits in 8 1/3 innings against these Phillies and the Rockies.

On the season JZ has allowed 129 hits in 125 innings, walked only 21 and struck out 113. Washington is 12-9 in Zimmerman's starts.

Zimmerman has started twice against Philly this season; first, he threw eight scoreless innings; but then he gave up four runs in less than four innings, leaving that game with a sore bicep.

Burnett (6-10, 4.15) is 12/23 on quality starts, but also just one for his last three, as he's run a bit hot-n-cold recently. Two weeks ago Atlanta nicked him for six runs in five innings; then he threw eight innings of shutout ball against San Francisco; but last time out he gave up seven runs through five innings against the Mets.

For the season Burnett has allowed 140 hits in 150 innings, walked 64 and struck out 123. The Phillies are 10-13 in Burnett's starts.

Burnett has already started three times this season against the Nats; first, he held them to one run through six innings; then he got knocked around for eight runs in six innings; and most recently he gave up two runs through 7 2/3 innings. Philly won two of those three games.

Free Pick for Saturday
Washington hasn't done us any favors the last couple of nights, so maybe it's time we jump off that wagon. So instead of picking a side, we'll look toward the total for our free MLB pick on Saturday's game, and go with the 'under' 7.5 runs, at the -119 offered at 5Dimes.
