Two of the biggest bankroll busters in the majors go at it tonight in San Francisco where the Giants are considerable underdogs on the MLB odds against the LA Dodgers.

L.A. Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants

Stopping an 11-game losing streak was good enough on its own; doing so while becoming the second team to clinch a playoff spot made it all the more sweeter for the Los Angeles Dodgers. They’ll try to add to the feeling Wednesday in the series finale at San Francisco, the Giants sending Matt Moore (5-13, 5.38) to the bump opposite Yu Darvish (8-12, 4.20). Los Angeles is favored around -210 with 7½ for the total.

San Francisco survived two blown leads to take Monday’s opener, 8-6. Clayton Kershaw then outdueled Johnny Cueto in Tuesday’s 5-3 final that snapped LA’s skid, Bookmaker closing the Dodgers on a 1/3 line. Game 2 of the set marked the fourth ‘over’ in the last five games between the two at AT&T and gave Los Angeles an 8-7 lead in the season series.

Giants Get First-Ever Look At Darvish

This mound duel includes two of the worst pitchers to bet this season, the Giants 9-19 behind Moore and off 11 units on the MLB money lines while the Rangers and Dodgers are a combined 12-16 in Darvish’s starts and nearly 13 units in the red. Only Moore’s San Fran teammate Madison Bumgarner has lost more money than these two in 2017 (-14.8 units).

Los Angeles won Darvish’s first three assignments after acquiring him from Texas, but the righthander is now mired in a 3-game skid with 13 runs charged to him in 12.1 innings. Wednesday night will be his first career appearance against the Giants. Moore was briefly relegated to the bullpen, but came back last Friday with one of his best outings of the season (6.2 IP, 2 ER) to pick up a road win over the White Sox. The Dodgers have chewed him up in three starts this year, the Giants losing each time while Moore pitched to a 7.02 ERA.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Greg Gibson closes out the series for Sam Holbrook’s crew, the Ohio native dragging a fairly level 15-13 O/U mark into the contest. Home teams have also cashed 15 of his 28 plate assignments, home ‘dogs splitting 10 games. It’s Gibson’s first game behind the mask at AT&T Park this year, the Giants and the ‘over’ cashing his last three behind the dish here.

Cloudy with a damp 65˚ reading on the thermometer and a stiff little 12-15 westerly breeze (out to center) are tonight’s particulars for the start of the game. Part of me believes the Dodgers will build on last night’s victory, but I can’t back Darvish at this price given his returns this year, so let’s go with the series trend for our free baseball pick.
