Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel looks to be back to his Cy Young type form this season. Today his Astros take on the American League champion Cleveland Indians in Cleveland and will face Josh Tomlin.

Houston Astros

Dallas Keuchel takes the mound for Houston and comes in with a 0.96 ERA and 0.79 whip allowing just three total earned runs over 28 innings in four starts. He is arguably been the best pitcher in baseball and I expect for him to come in tonight and pitch well against the American League champs. We can expect for him to go deep into this ballgame which will be helpful against a Cleveland team that is actually pretty decent at the plate. Houston’s bullpen should be able to help keep the Indians in check a little bit as well as they come in with a 2.66 ERA with batters hitting just .182 against them so far this season. At the plate Houston has been one of the better hitting teams in all of baseball hitting .266 as a team and averaging 8.95 hits per game ranking them third and fifth in the major leagues respectively. However, although they might have some quality at-bats today I don’t think combined with Cleveland they will score enough to get to the number.

Cleveland Indians

Josh Tomlin gets the start for Cleveland and comes in with a huge 11.68 ERA and 1.95 whip. He started out the season with two extremely rough outings but has bounced back decently in his last game at Minnesota allowing just three earned runs over six innings. I’m looking for him to springboard off of that game and come in and keep Houston to a reasonable number to give his team a chance to win. Like Houston if the Astros get to him Cleveland can rely on their very good bullpen that so far has a 2.92 ERA on the season. At the plate Cleveland has been better than average hitting .252 as a team and averaging 8.61 runs per game ranking them eighth and ninth in the major leagues. They don’t strike out a lot, but things could be a little bit difficult for them against Keuchel who has been lights out so far this season.

MLB Odds

Odds makers have come out making the total for this game at 8 and for my MLB pick, I will back under the total. Although both offenses have shown some decent production so far this year look for the pitchers to dominate the day.
