Our MLB handicapper has a case of the splitskies, so he picks 3 games within to ensure there is a tiebreaker for his Thursday MLB Picks of the Day.

2017 MLB Record, 189-170-9, +6.03 units

Colorado Rockies vs L.A. Dodgers

This is a system wager for our MLB handicapper, who has taken the Over in every total under 7 this season. He’s 3-3-1 in those picks, but goes back to the well with Clayton Kershaw in his second start off of the DL.

The fact that Clayton Kershaw is a dominant pitcher this year is not to be argued. He has shut out his opponents in 6 of his last seven starts. Against the Colorado Rockies, who he faces in this game, he has given up 0, 2, 2, and 4 earned runs in those starts. This is the fifth start for Kershaw against the Rockies, who average 5.3 runs per game against lefties on the season with a 22-16 record.

Jon Gray gets the pill for the Rockies and he has struggled against lefties all season long, allowing a .290 BAA against southpaws on the year. That does not bode well for his match up with the Dodgers, who should be able to stack their lineup against that split. There is nothing here to make me change my mind about the system on the year, and I’ve already place my money on Over 6.5 runs at 5Dimes as one of my Thursday MLB Picks of the Day.

Cleveland Indians vs Chicago White Sox

There is a term for trying to buy a stock at its absolute lowest point, “to catch a falling knife”. That is the case for the White Sox in this spot and our MLB handicapper is finally ready to bet against the Indians incredible run.

Well, kinda. I would not bet against the Indians right now, but I will wager on the White Sox’ Carlos Rodon to keep the game close. Rodon has given up 2 or less earned runs in six of his last seven starts, and has put up one of his best K/9 rates in years. A lot of his statistics are skewed by a rough start to the season, but Rodon has a 4.12 FIP in August and 3.38 FIP in September.

Corey Kluber gets this start for the Cleveland Indians, and even though he has been incredible this season, his last two worst starts have come against the Chicago White Sox. And that statement is a bit of a stretch, as we are talking about a 3-run and 4-run start in an 18 game span. At this point we are talking about value, and getting Rodon at +1.5 +135 while he has a career 2.12 ERA against the Indians works for me. I’m taking the White Sox on the run line as one of my Thursday MLB Picks of the Day.
