Once again we turn to a meaningless game to see if we can find some value and today we head to Chicago as the White Sox host the Tampa Bay Rays. Have oddsmakers set this total too low?

Tampa Bay Rays
Alex Cobb takes the mound for Tampa Bay and comes in with a 6.16 ERA and 1.53 whip giving up seven earned runs in just over an inning to New York in his last start. Getting knocked around like that happens to even the best pitchers at times and although he had a horrible outing we are talking about a guy with a career 3.32 ERA and 1.20 whip in 85 careers starts. This is a great spot for him to bounce back and pitch well against a pretty weak-hitting White Sox lineup. Just looking at his previous road start speaks volumes as he allowed just one earned run off of two hits in just under seven innings of work at Toronto, never an easy place to pitch. Offensively Tampa Bay can really struggle at times and they are averaging just over three runs per game in their last 10 contests.

Chicago White Sox
Chris Sale takes the mound for Chicago and comes in with a 3.19 ERA and 1.02 whip but got shelled his last start giving up six earned runs in Philadelphia. We actually went against him in that game for some good plus money value but this is a great spot for him to come in and shut down a poor Tampa Bay offense. In his one start against the Rays, Sale was lights out allowing two hits in nine innings and I expect for him to come in today and bounce back from his bad road start in a big way. Surprisingly his numbers are a little worse this season at home but batters are only hitting .223 against him in Chicago where he also has a ridiculous 103 strikeouts to just 17 walks in 92 innings pitched. Expect for him to come in and dominate and finish the season today and next week versus Minnesota on a high note.

MLB odds
Oddsmakers have come out with a total of 8 across the board with a bit of higher juice on the under. You can find some decent odds at Heritage Sports which is where I will make my MLB pick -110. This is good value on two very good pitchers in a game I don't expect the batters to do a whole lot.
