White Sox vs. Royals 8:10 PM ET
The White Sox starter Chris Sale has turned in another spectacular season despite pitching for one of the worst teams in the American League. The southpaw has gone 15-9 against the money, with a sparkling 1.99 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and just shy of a 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio. As a matter of fact, 22% of the White Sox wins this season have come with Sale as their starting pitcher. He’s gone 2-0 against the Royals pitching in 2014 with a spectacular 0.60 ERA.

The Royals will hand the ball to Yordano Ventura for tonight’s start. All he’s done is go 9-3 against the money over his last 12-starts, including 3-1 over the last 4, and posted a superb 2.13 ERA in those 4-outings. The bad news for Ventura, he’s gone 0-2 versus the White Sox since the start of last season, and posted a large 7.20 ERA in doing so.

The Royals have clearly been the better of these two teams in 2014. My hat goes off to the youngster Ventura who’s been a very serviceable pitcher for the Royals this season. However, when comparing these two starters, Chris Sale is in a whole different pitching class at the present time. My starting pitching betting edge to apply at 5Dimes goes to Sale of the White Sox over Ventura of the Royals.

Mariners vs. Angels 10:05 PM ET
I don’t think even the most diehard of fans would’ve have expected the kind of productivity that James Paxton has provided the Mariners with in 2014. The young southpaw has gone 7-3 against the money, and has posted a shockingly good 1.83 ERA in those outings. He’s faced the Angels in 2 of those 10-starts, gone 2-0 against the money, while posting a 2.25 ERA, and a super 0.67 WHIP.

The Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson has had a relatively inconsistent 2014 campaign. He’s managed to go 15-13 against the money, but has a lofty 4.61 ERA in those starts. He enters tonight in terrible form over his last 3-starts, posting a 6.14 ERA, a 1.84 WHIP, and all 3-games went over the total. Wilson has gone 0-2 against the money versus the Mariners this season with an unimpressive 6.08 ERA.

If you took the time to read the last 2 paragraphs, and didn’t just scan down in order to cut to the chase, then it should be crystal clear as to who gets my betting edge between these two hurlers. Take James Paxton & the Mariners over C.J. Wilson & the Angels for your MLB pick today.
