Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson has lost his way over the summer, which makes the Los Angeles Dodgers the smart MLB betting choice for closing out the Freeway Series Thursday.

Better equipped for interleague play
The Los Angeles Dodgers have put together a respectable 22-17 interleague record since the start of last season, which is important to consider when making your MLB picks, especially since they can utilize their entire offensive roster when playing in an American League ballpark.

The Blue Crew are hoping that first baseman Adrian Gonzalez can get things going, as he’s 1 for 17 with one RBI during this calendar month, but he’s tallied seven hits in 13 career at-bats against Wilson.

MLB handicappers will also find that the club is 18-10 when facing southpaw starters, with the UNDER going 15-9-4 in that situation.

Fishing on his birthday
The Los Angeles Angels have dropped back-to-back games, including a 2-1 defeat to the Dodgers as -152 home favorites Wednesday, while going UNDER the betting total for just the second time in six contests.

All eyes will be focused on All-Star outfielder Mike Trout, who has homered and hit .333 on Aug. 7 in each of the past two years, as he prepares to celebrate his 23rd birthday.

It’s important to point out that Trout has put together a mediocre .245 batting average in 13 games against the Dodgers, and he’s 4 for his last 30 at the plate when playing at Angel Stadium.

Pitching matchup to offer a betting edge?

Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (12-5, 3.39 ERA) has registered a 3-0 record and 2.42 ERA in his last four trips to the mound, but he didn’t factor into the decision of a 5-2 home win over the Chicago Cubs last time out.

The left-hander is a dangerous road underdog when looking over the MLB betting odds, as he’s gone 8-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 11 efforts away from Dodger Stadium.

Ryu has only faced the Halos once in his career—throwing a complete game shutout and allowing just two hits in a 3-0 home victory on May 28, 2013.

The left-hander allowed six runs and six hits in recording just four outs in his first start since landing on the disabled list with a sprained ankle, while opponents are hitting .416 against him in his last five appearances overall.

In 48 career interleague games (18 starts), Wilson has compiled a 8-6 record and 3.88 ERA, but has yet to record a decision in three outings (two starts) versus the Dodgers (4.97 ERA).

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Dodgers as one of their MLB predictions, as they’ve captured seven of Ryu’s last 10 starts as a road underdog.
