Josh Beckett and Francisco Liriano both land in unfavorable spots Friday night, which will lead to a high-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates in Southern California. Are the MLB odds offering us any value tonight?

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting lines for this National League matchup at Dodger Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 10:10 p.m. ET.

A rare occurrence
Pittsburgh snapped a nine-game road losing streak to Los Angeles Thursday, as it came away with a 6-3 victory as +102 underdogs, while going OVER the betting total for the first time in three contests.

The Pirates still possess the worst record in baseball when playing away from home, which has led directly to the club sitting 7.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central standings.

MLB handicappers will find that the team is 0-3 as road underdogs of +125 to +150 during the 2014 campaign.

Taking on the Central
Los Angeles has dropped back-to-back games, but will likely turn things around in this spot, considering it has put together a solid 23-14 record versus NL Central opponents since the start of last season.

The Dodgers will also hold an edge in regards to the bullpen—a group that has compiled a 2.16 ERA over its last 10 contests.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise is 33-18 as home favorites of -125 to -150, with the OVER going 26-21-4 in that situation.

Pirates starting pitcher Francisco Liriano (0-5, 5.06 ERA) has suffered back-to-back losses, including a 5-2 home defeat to the Washington Nationals in his last trip to the mound, as he allowed four runs and six hits over five frames.

The left-hander is 0-2 with a 3.43 ERA in four road outings—serving up three home runs in 21 combined innings.

Liriano hasn’t faced the Blue Crew since his 2006 rookie campaign.

Dodgers starting pitcher Josh Beckett (3-1, 2.43 ERA)  is looking to build off his first no-hitter, but he also threw a career-high 128 pitches in that effort against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The right-hander has limited opposing batters to a .189 average this season, which is tied for the fourth-best mark in MLB.

In two lifetime appearances versus the Pirates, Beckett has gone 1-1 with a 1.54 ERA, but hasn’t faced them since July 5, 2004.
