The Baltimore Orioles are playing their best baseball of the season, which will allow them to earn their first series sweep against the Los Angeles Angels in four years.

For the Birds
Los Angeles has put together a league-best 32-15 record since June 6, but its two series losses since last month have come against Baltimore, which is important to consider when making your MLB predictions in this matchup scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The Halos are averaging just 3.25 runs since the All-Star break, which is much lower than their 5.06 mark that led the Majors beforehand, as outfielder Mike Trout is batting just .147 in his last nine contests.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the franchise is 109-124 versus teams with a winning record.

Rolling along
Baltimore secured its eighth series victory in its last nine opportunities Wednesday, as it picked up a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles as +126 home underdogs, while going UNDER the betting total for the eight time in nine contests.

The Orioles have been leaning on their starting rotation over the last nine games, as the group has compiled a 2.48 ERA, as they aim for their first series sweep against the Angels since 2010.

Outfielder Adam Jones is the most important offensive player to handicap when looking over Major League Baseball betting odds, as he’s collected six home runs and 13 RBIs in his last eight games in this matchup.

Skaggs
Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs (5-5, 4.49 ERA) has led the club to three consecutive victories due to receiving 18 runs of support, but he hasn’t earned a decision in the last two, including a 2-1 home win over the Detroit Tigers last Friday.

The left-hander is 4-3 with a 3.69 ERA in eight road efforts—serving up just a single home run in 53.2 combined innings.

Skaggs has registered a 2-0 record and 2.40 ERA in two lifetime starts in the Eastern Time Zone, but he’s never faced the Orioles.

Norris
Orioles starting pitcher Bud Norris (8-7, 3.94 ERA) has alternated wins and losses in his last four trips to the mound, as he looks to bounce back from a 4-3 road defeat to the Seattle Mariners—allowing four runs and six hits over five frames.

The right-hander is 4-2 with a 3.02 ERA in seven home appearances, with opposing hitters batting .238 against him (.248 on the road).

Norris possesses a 3-0 record and 0.46 ERA in three lifetime starts versus the Halos.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Orioles as one of their MLB picks, as they’ve gone 12-5 versus teams with a winning record during the second half of the 2014 campaign.
