The Los Angeles Dodgers are difficult to back as home favorites without the best pitcher in baseball on the mound, which is why the Mets are dangerous road underdogs Friday night.

Getting on The Wright Path
New York has scored three of fewer runs in seven of its last nine games, but it did manage to pick up a 8-5 victory over the Oakland Athletics as +171 road underdogs Wednesday, while going OVER the betting total for a second consecutive contest.

Mets third baseman David Wright is a .374 career hitter against the Blue Crew, which is important to consider when making your MLB picks, especially since he’s gone 7 for 21 with two home runs against tonight’s opposing starter.

MLB handicappers will find that the club is 16-14 as underdogs of +100 to +125 when playing away from Citi Field.

Offense Needs to Wake Up
Los Angeles is very fortunate to have Clayton Kershaw on its staff, as the National League MVP candidate led the squad to a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres as -230 home favorites Thursday, but the offense has still scored three runs or less in five of six affairs.

The Dodgers are hitting just .236 against southpaws this season, which can’t be ignored when looking over the MLB odds, as first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is hitless in five at-bats against the Mets scheduled starter.

It’s important to point out that the franchise has produced a losing 8-10 record as favorites of -125 to -150 at Chavez Ravine in 2014.

Mets starting pitcher Jonathon Niese (7-8, 3.50 ERA) has tallied back-to-back wins, including a 7-3 home victory over the Chicago Cubs last time out, as he allowed three runs and seven hits over six frames.

The left-hander is 4-5 with a 3.83 ERA in 13 road games, with opposing hitters batting .272 against him (.251 at home).

In five career efforts versus the Dodgers, Niese has put together a 2-0 record and 4.03 ERA.

Dodgers starting pitcher Dan Haren (10-10, 4.59 ERA) suffered a 7-2 setback at home to the Milwaukee Brewers in his last trip to the mound—surrendering six runs (three earned) and five hits over three frames.

The right-hander is 4-4 with a 4.29 ERA in 11 home outings, while he’s served up 24 home runs in 143 total innings.

In 11 games (10 starts) versus the Mets, Haren has produced an even 3-3 record and 5.25 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Mets as one of their MLB picks, as the Dodgers have dropped their last four games as home favorites of -110 to -150.
