Padres at Dodger Stadium to open Three Game Series
The Dodgers will host the Padres on Friday at 10:10 PM ET. According to MLB odds, the Dodgers are a -185 money line favorite, and the posted total is 6.5. Wagerweb also has the Dodgers -1.5 (+115) and San Diego +1.5 (-135) on the run-line. The Dodgers are 4-2 versus the Padres in 2015. All three games played at Dodger Stadium between these clubs have gone over the total.

Starting Pitchers
Andrew Cashner will make his ninth start of the season tonight for San Diego. The right-handed Padres hurler has been victimized by a lack of run support so far in 2015. Despite posting a stellar 3.24 ERA, Cashner is a dismal 1-7 in his team starts. Two of those starts have come versus the Dodgers and he posted a lofty 5.25 ERA in those outings.

The Dodgers Zack Greinke will be making his ninth start of the season tonight. He’s gone 6-2 in his team starts with an excellent 1.52 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and a 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio. Greinke enters tonight in superb form over his last three starts, posting a microscopic 0.87 ERA, and a terrific 0.77 WHIP. In two starts versus the Padres this season Greinke has been lights out, evidenced by compiling a 0.69 ERA in those outings.

Two Ice Cold Teams
The San Diego Padres enter this series at Dodger Stadium having lost five of their last six games. During this six game funk, San Diego is averaging 2.0 runs and 5.8 hits per contest.  They’re coming off a 3-0 home loss on Thursday versus the Cubs. However, the Padres have gone 13-6 over the total on the road in 2015, and those contests have averaged a combined 9.2 runs per game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers bats have inexplicably gone silent over their last five games. During that time, they’ve scored a grand total of two runs, and averaged just 5.6 hits per game. They’re coming off a humiliating three game series at San Francisco in which they were not only swept, but were also shutout in each of those games. They can take solace in knowing they return home, and are a terrific 17-5 at Dodger Stadium this season.

Final Analysis
Zack Greinke has been one of the most profitable starting pitchers in baseball during home games since the inception of his MLB career, and he’s been dominant in his two starts versus the Padres in 2015. Andrew Cashner is much better than the Padres record may indicate during his starts in 2015. Unfortunately two of his less than stellar outings this year have come versus the Dodgers. The Dodgers bullpen has been far superior to that of the Padres thus far. I’m calling for a decisive win by the home team for one of my MLB picks on Friday.

MLB Picks: Play on the Dodgers -1.5 (+115) on the run-line at Wagerweb.
