Our resident MLB handicapping professional provides us with a betting preview article on Thursday’s game between the Rockies and Dodgers. This insightful piece concludes with a selection that will build your wagering bankroll.
Dodgers and Rockies begin Four Game Set in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a four game series on Wednesday at 10:10 PM ET. According to the MLB odds at Bookmaker, the Dodgers are a -195 money line favorite, and the posted total is 8.0. These NL West rivals have played five times this season, and the Dodgers won on each of those occasions, outscoring the Rockies by a cumulative 31-12.
The Colorado Rockies have called up right-hander Chad Bettis from their AAA affiliate in Albuquerque to make his 2015 MLB debut. In six starts with Albuquerque, Bettis was 2-2 with a 3.97 ERA, and allowed 5 home runs in 34.0 innings pitched. Bettis made 21 relief appearances for Colorado in 2014, and posted a mammoth 9.12 ERA. This will be his first MLB start since 9/8/2013.
The Dodgers southpaw starter Brett Anderson will make his seventh start of the 2015 season. Anderson has displayed very good form over his previous three team starts, going 3.0 with an exceptional 1.72 ERA. Ironically his previous start came last Friday at Coors Field in Denver against these very same Rockies. He went 5.0 innings in that outing and allowed no earned runs during a 2-1 Dodgers win.
Rockies enduring a Futile Stretch
The Colorado Rockies enter this series versus the division leading Dodgers having lost eleven in a row. After getting off to an encouraging 7-2 start in 2015, they’re now a dismal 4-17 in their last twenty-one games. The Rockies have gone 0-9 in their last nine played at Dodger Stadium, and averaged a paltry 2.6 runs per game in those outings.
Powerful Men in Blue
The Dodgers had their five game winning streak end last night in a 5-4 home loss to Miami. Despite the loss, they’ve gone an outstanding 15-3 at Dodger Stadium in 2015, and are also 13-4-1 over the total during those games. The Dodgers are hitting a robust .308 as a team during their last seven games, and have averaged 6.9 runs per outing during that time. They’ve also hit an extremely impressive 52 home runs in their first 33-games of the season.
The current MLB betting odds at Pinnacle have the Dodgers -1.5 (+108) and Colorado +1.5 (-117) on the run-line. Considering all the handicapping aspects of this matchup, I like the Dodgers to win in a blowout for one of my MLB picks on Thursday.
MLB Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (+108) on the run-line over Colorado at Pinnacle.
