Our resident MLB handicapping professional provides us with a betting preview article pertaining to Saturday’s game between the Rockies and Dodgers. Join us in reading this impressive piece which concludes with his selection.

Saturday NL West Battle at Dodger Stadium
The Los Angeles Dodgers host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday at 9:10 PM ET. According to the MLB betting odds at Pinnacle, the Dodgers are a -244 money line favorite, and the posted total is 6.5. Pinnacle also has the Dodgers at -1.5 (+107) and Colorado +1.5 (-116) on the run-line. The Dodgers have dominated Colorado thus far in 2015 by winning six of the seven encounters, and five of those games have gone over the total.

Starting Pitchers
Southpaw Jorge De La Rosa will make his fifth start of the season today for the Rockies. He’s 0-4 in his team starts with a mammoth 9.56 ERA, and a horrible 2.19 WHIP. The Colorado hurler is 1-3 in his team starts at Dodgers Stadium since the beginning of the 2012 campaign, posting a sizable 8.84 ERA, and a terrible 1.91 WHIP.

The Dodgers will send right-hander Zack Greinke to the mound on Saturday. Greinke is 6-1 in seven team starts this season while compiling a brilliant 1.74 ERA, and has also posted a superb 0.89 WHIP. Since the beginning of the 2013 season, Greinke is 4-1 in his five team starts versus Colorado with a very impressive 1.65 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and had a 5:1 strikeout to walk ratio in those outings. Since 2013, Greinke is 22-1 in 32 starts when facing a divisional opponent and that includes 20-0 since suffering a home loss versus Colorado on 9/28/2013.

Rockies Report
The good news for the Rockies is that they put an end to an eleven game losing streak in the opener of this current four game series. The bad news, they lost 6-4 on Friday, and have now gone 1-12 in their last thirteen games. Since beginning the 2015 campaign by going 7-2, they’ve gone a dismal 5-18 in their last twenty-three games. Colorado will be facing a pitcher on Saturday (Greinke) that’s averaged 6.8 innings per start this season. That’s not good news for a Colorado club which has gone 1-14 since the start of last season when facing a starting pitcher that averages 6.5 or more innings per outing.

“Men in Blue”
Following Friday’s win over Colorado, the Dodgers improved to a stellar 16-4 at home this season. They’ve also gone over the total in each of their last six, and nine of the previous ten games overall. The Dodgers are 15-4-1 over the total during twenty games at home in 2015.

Final Analysis
This is a starting pitching mismatch of epic proportions. One team (Dodgers) is playing exceptional baseball to start the season, and the other (Rockies) is in total disarray at the moment. There’s no sense in pondering this scenario for any length of time, the game has all the ear marks of a blowout, and that’s the direction I’ll go when making one of my MLB picks on Saturday.

MLB Picks: Dodgers -1.5 (+107) on the run-line over Colorado at Pinnacle.
