Wednesday in Arizona, the LA Dodgers will play the rubber game match against the Diamondbacks. Facing a southpaw pitcher on the road, we are leaning on the home dogs for our MLB pick.
NL West Series Finale between Dodgers and Diamondbacks
To the delight of people around the world placing MLB picks, the Dodgers and Diamondbacks will play in a rubber match of a three game series on Wednesday at Arizona. The first pitch is slated for 9:40 PM ET. By virtue of a 6-4 win last night, the Dodgers are 8-3 versus their NL West rival in 2015, and the season series is 6-4-1 over the total.
The Dodgers Brett Anderson will get the start on Wednesday. The southpaw hurler has been in stellar form during his previous three starts, evidenced by a 1.71 ERA during those outings. Anderson has been solid for much of the year with a very good 3.19 ERA in 15 starts. He’s also done an outstanding job of not allowing the long ball. Anderson has surrendered just 6 home runs this season in 89.0 innings pitched. However, 3 of those 6 home runs were allowed versus tonight’s opponent (Arizona). As a matter of fact, Anderson has made three starts in 2015 versus Arizona and posted a 3.71 ERA.
Arizona will go with a southpaw of their own tonight in Robbie Ray. Ray has been superb in six starts this season, posting an excellent 1.98 ERA, and 1.02 WHIP. He’s made one start versus the Dodgers this year, and allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits while walking 4 in 6 2/3 innings pitched.
Despite Tuesday’s win, the Dodgers are just 17-22 in away game this year, compared to a terrific 26-13 at home. They’ve also fared much better versus right-handed starting pitchers (28-17) than southpaws (6-8, 3.2 runs per game, and .227 team batting average). The Dodgers are a bankroll draining 5-11 this season as a money line road favorite of -125 to -175 like they will be today. I’ll have a small lean toward the home underdog for one of my MLB picks on Wednesday. After surfing through all the major sportsbooks for the best money line value, 5Dimes will clearly be receiving my call.
