Not only is Atlanta in solid form with the bats, but they will also be sending one of the most effective pitchers in the league to the mound tonight find how to place this MLB pick inside.

Atlanta Braves (Miller) vs. Arizona D’Backs (Collmenter) 9:40 ET
Here is an interesting analogy … have you ever stayed up for most of the night only to find yourself function near 100% the following day due to a surge of adrenaline?  But, it catches up with you the following day, even though you may have had a decent night’s sleep that 2nd night. Such may well be the case with Arizona tonight. After a 17 inning loss at Milwaukee on Sunday, Arizona played a game last night (an 8-1 defeat to these Braves). But, the real hangover may come today when ineffective starting pitcher, Collmenter, gives way to a bullpen that has worked 16 1/3 IP the previous 2 nights. There will be little room for error against Atlanta starter, Miller, who has been among the most effective starters in MLB. As a result, the Braves have a major edge, as they play their 9th of 10 away on a recent 3-game run in which they have outscored the opposition 23-6 with a .313 BA. Arizona takes the field at the opposite end of the momentum spectrum on a 2-5 slide in which their starters have authored a 6.81 ERA. In addition, the Arizona bats have plated just 2 runs in the last 22 innings.

We can’t expect much better from Arizona starter, Collmenter, tonight. That is especially true from this mound, where in 6 starts, he has gone 1-4 with a 6.30 ERA. In addition, he will have little confidence when facing this Atlanta team. For, he is 0-3 in his previous 3 outings vs. the Braves with a 4.91 ERA. Collmenter is winless in his previous 4 starts, leaving him with little confidence as he takes the mound tonight.  Most disturbing number by Collmenter is his .861 OPS, indicating he is allowing not only a high percentage of batters to reach base, but also for them to hit with power against him. The result is a not be trusted, 5.05 ERA. Combined with a night that I believe Arizona will have a negative performance and their overworked bullpen, the D’Backs are a PURE PLAY AGAINST tonight.

Not only is Atlanta in solid form with the bats as described above, but they will also be sending one of the most effective pitchers in the league to the mound tonight. When the Braves acquired Miller from St. Louis, it would have been hard to conceive he would author these kinds of numbers. Atlanta has won 8 of Miller’s 10 starts, in which he has allowed 2 or less earned runs in each outing. In his most recent 5 starts, Miller has a 0.95 ERA. His excellence is confirmed by a 0.88 WHIP, a .507 OPS and a 1.48 ERA for the YTD.

In a game that features a momentum mismatch, both at the plate and on the mound, we can only make a MLB pick on the Atlanta Braves and Miller at this value price.
