The Oakland Athletics have had great success on the road against the Los Angeles Angels in recent years, which provides them value in the betting market in Wednesday night’s series finale.

Taking care of business
Oakland has won eight of its last nine games, including a 10-9 extra-innings victory over Los Angeles as -103 road underdogs Tuesday, while going OVER the betting total for the first time in four affairs.

The Athletics have compiled a 15-6 record in their last 21 road games in the rivalry, while they’ve also captured four straight season series against the Angels.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the club is 82-58 versus division foes.

Trouble in the bullpen
Los Angeles is 2-3 on its current homestand, as it continues to struggle in the late innings due to a leaky bullpen—a group that has compiled a 5.34 ERA through 14 games of the 2014 campaign.

Angels relievers have already suffered three losses this season and have walked 21 batters in 42.1 combined innings of work.

MLB handicappers will find that the franchise is 17-17 at home with a money line of -100 to -125 since 2012.

Who is offering the most competitive MLB World Series Betting Odds?

Athletics starting pitcher Tommy Milone (0-1, 5.40 ERA) suffered a 6-4 road loss to the Seattle Mariners in his first outing of the year last Friday, as he gave up five runs (three earned) and 10 hits over five frames.

The left-hander went 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA in five games (four starts) during the spring—logging a 1.93 ERA over his last three appearances.

In seven career starts versus the Angels, Milone has compiled a 5-2 record and 4.35 ERA.

Angels starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs (1-0, 2.40 ERA) has led the club to wins in his first two outings, but he didn’t earn a decision in a 5-4 home victory over the New York Mets in his last effort.

The left-hander has tossed 14 shutout innings in winning his two career starts versus AL opponents, as he was acquired during the offseason from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Skaggs will be facing the Athletics for the first time in his career.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Athletics as one of their MLB picks, as the Angels bullpen simply can’t be trusted until the group develops some chemistry in the later innings.

Oakland improves to 6-2 in Milone’s last eight efforts in the series.

Pick: Oakland Athletics +103
