New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Tanaka Time
The New York Yankees bounced back quite nicely last night in a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay after a 5 game losing streak which saw their chances of grabbing a post-season berth take a hit. Tonight, the Yankees face the same bottom-feeding Rays (64-86) and send out their best pitcher in Masahiro Tanaka (13-4, 2.97 ERA). Tanaka has been brilliant as he leads the American League in earned run average and this is a must-win situation for New York as they're currently 3 1/2 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the final wild-card spot with 12 games remaining in the regular season.

Go Big Or Go Home
This is basically what's the situation for New York, who have lost 7 out of their last 10 games. Good pitching wins games and they go into this game with a decisive edge in Tanaka. In Masahiro Tanaka's last 6 starts, he's been nearly perfect. In his last 40 1/3 innings, he's allowed 6 earned runs and he's also won his last 6 decisions.

Look for Tanaka to pitch well in facing a weak offensive team in the Tampa Bay Rays. Evan Longoria is really the only threat in the Tampa Bay lineup as he's hitting a red-hot .462 with 3 HR and 8 RBI in his last 26 at-bats. Longoria also is a Yankee-killer and Tanaka must proceed with caution, just as the oddsmakers are doing across the board.

The Real Deal
Even in New York doesn't make the playoffs, they've discovered a real gem in catcher, Gary Sanchez. Sanchez is one of the best catcher's in baseball when it comes to throwing runners out that are attempting to steal and did I mention that he has 17 HR in his first 42 games played of the season in his rookie year? Gary Sanchez can go deep in any game. Look for a desperate New York team to find a way to get the "W".

Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets

Can The Braves Keep "Spoiling"?
I've gone with Atlanta as the underdog the last two nights and it has paid off quite handsomely. I like to ride the hot team, including weak teams such as the Braves (60-91), but particularly in this case as you're going to receive great value as Atlanta is the heavy underdog against a New York Mets (80-71) team that's in a 3 way tie with San Francisco and St. Louis for the top wild-card spot in the National League. The Mets don't have an intimidating lineup and the Braves are playing a team like a team with nothing to lose.

Atlanta has now won 4 games in a row thanks to a Julio Teheran 5-4 win last night and looks to keep the momentum going. Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp have led the way and are more and now, after a 3 hit performance, the Braves have a new hitter in the mix that's a threat to Bartolo Colon tonight in the form of Adonis Garcia. In his last 4 games, Garcia is 8 for 18 with 5 runs, 1 HR and 6 RBI's. If he has another good game tonight, this will enhance Atlanta's chance of winning as the heavy underdog, according to 5 Dimes Sportsbook.

A September to Remember
Of course, the Braves can always rely on Freddie Freeman. He's the leader of this Braves squad and has been really pouring it on as of late, going .394 with 4 HR and 17 RBI in the month of September. Freeman is hitting.302 with 31 HR and 83 RBI for the season and also get's on base almost 40 % of the time. Look for Atlanta to upset New York for a 3rd straight time for your MLB pick.
