With just two weeks remaining in the MLB Regular Season, the importance of the games becomes magnified as respective teams attempt to grab a playoff spot. See who we think are the best options for tonight's slate of games with our MLB Picks of the Day for Monday.

Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets

In Control Of Their Own Destiny
The New York Mets (80-69) have managed to "weather the storm" with a rash of injuries and are now the top team for a wild card spot. It's pretty amazing as if you look up and down their roster at the level of talent on this squad. The Mets have won 3 games in a row and 7 out of their last 10. They also have a very easy schedule coming down the stretch. What better way for the Mets to continue their playoff run with a matchup against a bottom-feeder such as the Atlanta Braves? Can the Mets keep this amazing run going and get back to the World Series is the question?

Nicknamed Thor with this flowing blonde locks, Noah Syndergaard (13-8, 2.48 ERA) really has the power of Hercules and has provided the Mets with Herculean effort as Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey are both done for the season. This was supposed to be a Mets rotation that was 6 pitcher deep and literally, everyone is injured, but Noah Syndergaard has been healthy and reliable.

This is a pitcher that can do damage with his arm and his bat. Syndergaard has simply been on fire as of late and a big reason why New York are in the catbird's seat for the NL Wild Card. In his last 5 starts, Syndergaard has pitched a total of 34 innings and has allowed just 4 earned runs. Against a team such as Atlanta, the Mets offense just need's to scratch out a few runs and with Syndergaard pitching , the heavy chalk according to 5 Dimes Sportsbook, should be easy winners in this matchup. Syndergaard has 205 strikeouts this season, which is more than a strikeout per inning .Will the Braves offense show up against this young talent?

The Mets might have to play without their offensive leader, Yoenis Cespedes. Cespedes has 30 HR, 81 RBI, and a .289 BA in just 432 at-bats for the season. Cespedes complained of dizziness and is often injured. Atlanta does have a powerful combination in Freddie Freeman (30 HR, 80 RBI, .297 BA) and Matt Kemp (31 HR, 99 RBI, .272 BA) and Kemp has been on fire as of late. He's 12 for his last 22 at bats and has 5 HR, 13 RBI, and a .373 BA in the month of September. I'm going to side with the value and look for the upset. Take Atlanta in this spot for your MLB pick.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres

Tragedy Has Hit the Clubhouse
We know that both teams are going nowhere where the season is concerned, but in the scheme of life, the baseball season appears small as the wife of Padres star, Yangervis Solarte has passed away. It has appeared to have greatly affected this San Diego Padres team. Solarte is a player that waited a long time in the minor leagues and finally got the call-up from the New York Yankees and is now an extablished star with San Diego. We don't know when he's going to be back and I don't expect it to be this game, but I do expect the Padres (62-87) to be motivated at Petco Park in the "Battle of the Bottom-Feeders".

Clayton Richard
Good pitching wins games and in a "pitcher-friendly park" such as Petco Park, this fact is magnified and the San Diego Padres have the starting pitching advantage tonight as Clayton Richard (2-3, 3.00 ERA) get's the start.

Since being traded from the Chicago Cubs to the San Diego Padres, Richard has pitched very well. In his last 6 starts (35 2/3 innings), Richard has allowed a mere 6 earned runs. The Padres couldn't have known that he would pitch this well, but they will surely take it as they're a team that's lacking in every facet of the game. Look for Richard to continue to pitch well against an underachieving Diamondbacks squad.

Wil Myers
Without Solarte in the lineup, the offense has to come from somewhere and Wil Myers has been the Pads main source of offense where power is concerned. He's hitting .260 with 25 HR and 85 RBI. To have 85 ribbies on a team such as this is an accomplishment. Myers is also hitting .319 at Petco Park to go along with 15 HR and 50 RBI. Look for Myers to lead the way as this is a great spot with great odds, according to 5 Dimes Sportsbook, for the San Diego Padres to snap their 3 game losing streak.
