Though San Diego acquired Juan Soto, Josh Bell, Josh Hader, and others, the Dodgers haven't been fazed. They dominated the Padres over the first two games of this series, which ended with a combined score of 16-4 in favor of the Dodgers. Los Angeles has lost consecutive games once since June 28, and the club has won 29 of 34 contests since then. The Dodgers are also 7-2 against the Padres in 2022.

Caesars and PointsBet are the only sportsbooks offering a total of 8.5, while all others are at 9. The Over is attracting 68% of the bets and 67% of the cash.

Padres vs. Dodgers Projected Pitchers

Yu Darvish (10-4, 3.30 ERA, 0/99 WHIP) vs. Tyler Anderson (12-1, 2.89 ERA, 1.03 WHIP)

Yu Darvish has lost just once in his last 10 starts, and he hasn't produced a losing month in 2022. Darvish has been an innings-eater while lasting six-plus innings in 13 consecutive appearances, and 11 have been quality starts.

Meanwhile, Tyler Anderson looks to become MLB's fourth 13-game winner. He's won back-to-back starts and three of his last four, though he was the beneficiary of great run support during his previous outing against the Giants. Anderson earned the win despite allowing five earned runs over five innings. A 22-inning scoreless streak leading up to that start ended.

Padres (+120)

Los Angeles is 21-1 in its last 22 home games against NL West opponents following a home win. However, San Diego's 30-26 road record is the fourth-best in the National League, as are its 22 wins against left-handed starting pitchers. The Padres can take advantage of Anderson early while exploiting his low 38% ground-ball rate.

Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, and Max Muncy are a combined 5-for-44 (.114) against Darvish. The veteran hurler just needs to focus on limiting Freddie Freeman and Trea Turner, who are 12-for-30 with three home runs against him.

Padres vs. Dodgers O/U Pick

Over 8.5 (-115)

Anderson's numbers are gaudy and deserve much respect, even if his eye-popping win-loss record is largely a result of playing for the Dodgers. But although he recently didn't allow a run in three consecutive starts, Anderson has coughed up at least four earned runs in two of his previous seven outings. Those instances came against the Giants and Rockies. While his poor outings came on the road, those lineups weren't as loaded as what San Diego boasts.

On the other side, Darvish's road ERA of 4.50 is more than two runs higher than his home ERA (2.17). His OBA and WHIP are 81 and 37 points higher too, respectively.

While much of the attention centered around the additions of Soto and Bell, Brandon Drury was quietly an important pickup too for San Diego.

He already boasted career bests in nearly every statistical category in 2022, and now Drury is off to a blistering pace with six RBI over four games with the Padres. He's 6-for-17 hitting with a home run and a wOBA of .412 against Anderson. The veteran should get plenty of RBI chances once again while hitting behind a plethora of All-Stars in San Diego's lineup.
