Their season matchups and current series deadlocked, the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles head to the rubber game Wednesday night at Camden Yards with tight MLB odds for the clash.

MLB Season Record: 22-33 (-12.46)

May comes to a close on the MLB schedule with a nice battle between rivals as the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles tangle in the rubber game of their series at Camden Yards. New York sends Masahiro Tanaka to the bump as -113 chalk at 5Dimes against Kevin Gausman of the O’s, 9 the number for scoreboard bettors.

The Orioles began the series with a 3-2 win on Monday, the combination of Dylan Bundy’s pitching and Jonathan Schoop’s 2-run double in the third enough to cash for bettors. That contest finished ‘under’ the MLB odds after the entire April series at Camden went ‘over.’ New York bats took charge Tuesday as Brett Gardner and Matt Holliday each popped a pair of solo homers in an 8-3 win that left the teams a level 4-4 against each other this year.

Hurlers Each Coming Off Losing, But Quality Efforts

Tanaka had his best outing of May last Friday vs. the Athletics, but the end result was still a loss for both him and the Yankees, his third consecutive start that went into the L column. A lack of support was the primary culprit as Tanaka whiffed 13 and allowed just a run in 7.1 innings. He no-decisioned in Baltimore back in early April, going five and surrendering three runs in an eventual 5-4 Orioles win. His only previous start on this mound was last season, eight shutout innings in a contest Baltimore won 1-0 in 10 frames.

That the O’s have managed to go 5-6 while Gausman pitched to a 6+ ERA is something of an accomplishment. The former LSU standout has looked better of late with three quality starts among his last four appearances, but he remains no mystery to hitters who are batting .322 against Gausman in 2017 and have clubbed four homers over his last 16 frames. His two starts against the Yanks have been split, the right-hander allowing 16 hits and nine runs in 10.2 IP.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Kerwin Danley closes out the series behind the plate for this crew, his 11th time under the mask this season with six of the first 10 failing to reach the totals. It’s the LA native’s first time to call balls and strikes at Orioles Park this year and first time on this diamond since the end of the 2015 campaign. Home favorites are 5-3 when Danley has dish duty in 2017, 17-10 over the past couple of seasons.

Partly cloudy skies, a muggy 78° and a 5-7 mph breeze from the south (out to center) is the forecast for tonight’s first pitch. My free baseball pick is on a scoreboard buster.
