Our MLB handicapping professional shares his two top totals picks on Monday’s card. Don’t make a move without first reading this revealing betting preview article.

Tigers (Verlander) vs. Rangers (Lewis) 8:05 PM ET
Jason Verlander has pitched extremely well on the road this year. The Tigers veteran hurler has posted a stellar 2.70 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in seven away game starts. The Tigers have averaged a paltry 2.9 runs per game in their last seven contests. Their pitching has been outstanding during that same seven game stretch, holding opposing teams to a scant .197 team batting average, and also a dismal .254 OBP.

Colby Lewis has displayed superb form during his previous three starts, compiling a terrific 1.71 ERA and 0.76 WHIP in those outings.

These teams have seen all four of their encounters versus one another go under the total this year. Monday’s starting pitchers squared off against one another on 8/21 at Detroit during a 2-0 Texas win. Verlander allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits in 7.0 innings, and Lewis didn’t yield a run during 7.0 innings of work.

I like this game to be a low scoring affair for one of my MLB picks on Monday. According to current MLB odds at Pinnacle, that’s where I’ll be placing my bet.

MLB Pick: Tigers and Rangers Under 8.5 (+100) at 5Dimes

Red Sox (Rodriguez) vs. Yankees (Nova) 7:05 PM ET
The Red Sox have gone under the total in each of their previous six games. They’re coming off a three game sweep of Baltimore this past weekend, and shutout the Orioles in each game. Eduardo Rodriguez has seen all three of his starts in 2015 versus the Yankees go under the total, and had a rock solid 2.45 ERA during those outings. Boston has scored 2 runs or less in four of their previous six games.

Ivan Nova is coming off a strong pitching performance at Toronto last Wednesday. During that start, he allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits in 5 2/3 innings against the highest scoring team in baseball. Nova has seen all three starts since 2014 go under the total when facing Boston. The Yankees are 11-3 under the total in the last fourteen overall, and that includes going under in each of their previous five games.

MLB Pick: Red Sox and Yankees Under 8.5 (+102) at Pinnacle
