Coming off their highest output of the season Wednesday, the New York Mets are slight underdogs on the MLB odds Thursday evening in their series finale at the Atlanta Braves.

MLB Season Record: 10-19 (-10.19)

Sure, it's only three games worth of data so far, but the results sure seem to point to the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves providing fans and bettors with plenty of offense when they meet at SunTrust Park.

They'll close out a 4-game series tonight (7:35 ET) when Jaime Garcia takes the mound for Atlanta against New York's Zack Wheeler, and BookMaker is selling the Braves at -115 for the matchup with 8½ for the total. Before meeting at Atlanta's newest stadium this week, the Mets and Braves played five times in April at Citi Field, where they combined for 40 runs. In three games at SunTrust Park, the clubs have scored 49 runs following New York's 16-5 decision on Wednesday. That followed the teams splitting the first two contests, the Mets taking Game 1 by a 7-5 count and Atlanta winning Game 2, 9-7.

Garcia Holding Left-Handed Batters To .192 Average

In his sixth start of the season, Wheeler will be facing his fourth different NL East opponent, having made two appearances vs. both the Phils and Nats and one against the Marlins. Working deep into counts prevented the Georgia native from making it through the fifth the last time out, a no-decision for Wheeler with the Mets earning a 5-3 win. This is his first assignment vs. the Braves since September 2014, and he's 4-2 in eight previous appearances against them with a 2.93 ERA.

After Atlanta split his first four starts, Garcia is now looking for his second straight victory following an 11-3 win last Saturday in Milwaukee. The lefty held the Brewers to three hits and a pair of runs in six innings, working around a season-high five walks. It was his second consecutive appearance not allowing a homer after serving up four in his first three starts. He lost to the Mets in New York in his season debut (6 IP, 4 R), and this will be only the second home start for Garcia this year.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Alfonso Marquez completes one full turn through this umpire crew, which is chiefed by Wednesdy's plate arbiter, Larry Vanover. It's Marquez's sixth game under the mask this year, three of the previous five going 'over,' with home teams 1-4 and priced as the favorite on the MLB odds each time out as in tonight's contest.

Rain blankets Atlanta this morning and doesn't look like it's going to lighten much by this evening. The teams already had one rainout in New York, and officials don't want a second makeup game to work into the schedule, but they may not have any choice. If we had a better forecast, I'd follow the 'over' trend these two teams have set up so far in 2017, but instead I'll take the underdog Mets for my free baseball pick.
