Before placing your MLB pick here, understand that although Kansas City are off to a 3-0 start to this season, they are underdogs in tonight's betting odds against the LA Angels.

Royals-Angels Betting Odds
As of mid-Friday morning the best line in MLB Odds we could find on Los Angeles with Hector Santiago was the -122 offered at BetOnline, while Kansas City and Jason Vargas could be gotten at +116 at 5Dimes. Also, the total on this game opened at eight runs, but many books then dropped that figure to 7.5 in the early betting.

Royals-Angels: Re-Match
Kansas City is off to a great start in defense of its American League championship, sweeping three games from the White Sox earlier this week. The Royals won 10-1 Monday, 7-5 Wednesday and 4-1 Thursday. KC got a quality start from newcomer Edinson Volquez in the series finale and some great defense from CF Lorenzo Cain, while Greg Holland threw a perfect ninth for his second save of the season.

Through their first three games Royals bats have rapped out 35 hits, including 13 for extra bases, five of those home runs. Last year KC ranked dead last in the Majors with 95 homers.

LA began its season by taking two of three games from the Mariners in Seattle. The Angels lost Monday 4-1, but won Tuesday 2-0 and Wednesday 5-3. Los Angeles scored four times in the first inning Wednesday, then held on from there. Closer Huston Street threw a perfect ninth inning for his second save of the season.

Through three games Angels sticks have only poked out 19 hits, seven for extra bases.

These teams split six games during the regular season last year, but KC swept LA in three games in an American League divisional-round playoff series. Also, the totals in those nine games split 4-4-1.

Friday's Starters
Vargas went 11-10 last year with a 3.71 ERA. The former Angel went 19-for-30 on quality starts, gave up 197 hits in 187 innings, walked 41 and struck out 128. Kansas City went 14-16 in Vargas' starts last year, with the totals going 12-15.

Vargas started three times against the Angels last season, including once in the playoffs, allowing nine runs and 15 hits through 16 1/3 innings. KC won two of those games, and two of those games played UNDER on the totals.

Fellow lefty Santiago went 6-9 last year with a 3.75 ERA. The former White Socker went just four-for-24 on quality starts, mainly because he pitched on such a short leash. Santiago allowed 120 hits in 127 innings, walked 53, which was a bit too many, and struck out 108.

LA went 9-15 in Santiago's starts last year, with the totals splitting 12-12.

Santiago started once against Kansas City last year, throwing four innings of four-hit, shutout ball, walking none while striking out four, in a 6-2 Los Angeles victory. In four career starts against the Royals Santiago has allowed just three runs through 22 2/3 innings.

Betting Trends
KC went 24-21 against left-handed starters last season.

The Angels went 28-20 against lefties last year.

We're not sure who's going to win this game, but because of a lack of confidence in either starting pitcher we get the feeling we'll see some offense tonight. So for our MLB picks we like the OVER.
