We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Wednesday's card. Read on and find two plays that will maximize your profits ahead of this week's NFL preseason games.

Tigers vs. Rangers

Right-hander Anibal Sanchez (3-3, 6.69 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) takes the hill for the Tigers after struggling against the Twins on Friday, when he gave up five earned runs on eight hits (two home runs) with no walks and six strikeouts over six innings of a 9-4 loss. Sanchez is 0-2 with an awful 13.00 ERA over his last two starts and he has a poor 6.87 ERA in 11 road appearances (five starts).

Cole Hamels (7-1, 3.31 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) will get the ball for the Rangers, looking to win his fourth straight decision. Hamels threw seven scoreless innings in a 6-4 victory against the Astros last Friday, surrendering just three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

The left-hander has three consecutive quality starts and he has allowed zero earned runs in four of his last seven starts, posting a 2.59 ERA, an 0.92 WHIP and a 3.6 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K/BB) in 48 2/3 innings over that span. I'm taking the Rangers at -175 MLB odds here, Hamels is 5-0 with a 2.66 ERA in seven home starts and it's hard to trust Sanchez this season.

Reds vs. Cubs

Homer Bailey (4-6, 8.31 ERA, 2.03 WHIP) will start for the Reds, trying to build on a decent effort against the Brewers last Friday, when he allowed two earned runs on five hits (one home run) with five walks and five strikeouts in an 11-10 win. Bailey has a mediocre 5.17 ERA in six road starts and the current Cubs lineup is hitting .302 against him, with Anthony Rizzo going 6-for-18 with one home run and two RBIs.

John Lackey (10-9, 4.82 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) will make his 23rd start for the Cubs, as he goes after his sixth consecutive win. Lackey gave up three earned runs on four hits (two home runs) and three walks with seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings of an 8-3 victory against the Diamondbacks last Friday. The right-hander has thrown six innings or less in 11 straight starts and he's just 3-4 with a 4.79 ERA in 10 home appearances and 1-1 with a poor 6.35 ERA in two starts against the Reds. I'm looking at the Over for my MLB picks here.
