We browse the early odds board in search of MLB betting value on Wednesday's slate. Read on and find two picks that will maximize your profits this week.

Rays vs. Athletics

Right-hander Jacob Faria (4-0, 2.00 ERA, 0.98 WHIP) takes the hill for the Rays after an impressive outing against the Angels on Friday, when he gave up just one earned run on five hits (one home run) and two walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 2-1 win. This will be his first career start against the Athletics but he's 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in four road starts.

Sonny Gray will get the ball for the Athletics after tossing six shutout innings against the Indians on Friday, surrendering just two hits and a walk with five strikeouts in a 5-0 win. Gray now has four consecutive quality starts, lowering his ERA from 4.84 to 3.72. Impeccable control has been vital for him, as he has just five walks over those four starts, striking out a 21 batters in 27 innings, increasing his value ahead of this year's trade deadline.

The current Rays lineup is hitting just .242 against Gray, with Logan Morrison going just 5-for-25 with six strikeouts. I'm looking at Under 8.5 at -124 MLB odds here, with Faria continuing to shine and Gray showcasing his skills for a potential new team.

Cardinals vs. Mets

Mike Leake (6-7, 3.14 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) starts for the Cardinals after getting a no-decision against the Pirates on Friday, when he allowed two earned runs on seven hits and five walks with three strikeouts in five innings of a 5-2 loss. Leake ranks sixth in the National League with a 3.14 ERA but Mets hitters have a combined .270 batting average against him. Lucas Duda is 6-for-8 against Leake with two home runs and five RBI and Curtis Granderson is 2-for-5.

Jacob deGrom (10-3, 3.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) will make his 19th start for the Mets after earning his sixth straight win last Friday, when he gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts in eight innings of a 14-2 victory against the Rockies. deGrom has allowed one earned run or less and thrown at least seven innings in five of his last six starts to lower his ERA to 3.48 and he's 5-2 with a 2.37 ERA and one complete game in nine home starts. I'm taking deGrom and the Mets -157 with my MLB picks here as he's been a money maker for me this season.
