Right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. (1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) takes the hill for the Phillies after winning his first start of the season last Friday, when he threw six scoreless innings and surrendered just three hits and one walk with five strikeouts in a 6-1 victory against the Diamondbacks. Leiter Jr. hasn't given up a run over his last 8 1/3 innings of work and he lowered his ERA from 5.40 to 3.60 over his last two appearances (one start).

Felix Hernandez (3-2, 4.68 ERA, 1.56 WHIP) will get the ball for the Mariners after allowing three earned runs on eight hits (two home runs) and a walk with six strikeouts over six innings in a 13-3 win against the Astros last Friday. Hernandez is 3-0 with a 3.66 ERA in three home starts and facing the struggling Phillies will help him continue that dominance. I'm looking at Under 9 at -110 MLB odds here, with Leiter Jr. and Hernandez showing signs of improvement as of late.

Royals vs. Tigers

Ian Kennedy (1-6, 4.95 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) will start for the Royals after giving up four runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in just 4 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 6-4 win over the Red Sox last Wednesday. Kennedy has struggled all season, posting a 4.95 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and 7.6 strikeouts per 9 innings (K/9) and his 5.60 fielding independent pitching (FIP) and 5.23 ERA in six road starts suggest his troubles will likely continue in Detroit.

Daniel Norris (4-5, 4.66 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) will make his 15th start of the season for the Tigers. The left-hander is coming off one of his worst performances of the season, allowing five earned runs on five hits (one home run) and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings of a 9-6 loss against the Mariners last Thursday. Norris is just 2-3 with a 5.03 ERA six home starts and he's given up eight earned runs over his last 12 innings of work. I'm going Over 9.5 with my MLB picks, as I don't see how Kennedy and Norris can slow down these two potent lineups.
