We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Thursday's card. Read on and find two picks that will maximize your profits before the Rams visit the 49ers.

Rangers vs. Mariners

Left-hander Cole Hamels (10-4, 3.96 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) takes the hill for the Rangers, coming off a tough loss despite pitching well against the Angels last Saturday, when he gave up two earned runs on four hits (two home runs) and four walks with five strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings of a 2-0 setback. Hamels has a 4.39 ERA in 11 road starts and he's 1-0 with a high 4.76 ERA in three starts against the Mariners this season.

James Paxton (12-4, 2.98 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) starts for the Mariners after a poor 50-pitch outing in his return from a pectoral injury on Friday, when he allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts in just 1 1/3 innings of a 5-2 loss against the Astros. It was Paxton's first start since August 10 and now he will have a chance to redeem himself and get back to the level of pitching that helped him get a career-high 12 wins this year. I'm looking at Over 8.5 at +102 MLB odds as these two teams have potent offenses and both starters haven't pitched up to their potential of late.

Rockies vs. Padres

Tyler Anderson (5-5, 5.28 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) will start for the Rockies, going for his third straight win. Anderson dominated the Padres last Saturday, throwing six scoreless innings while surrendering just two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a 16-0 victory and now he hasn't given up a run in 10 innings since returning after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in June.

Clayton Richard (7-14, 4.82 ERA, 1.51 WHIP) will make his 31st start of the season for the Padres, looking to get back on track after Friday's loss against the Rockies, when he allowed four earned runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts in six innings of a 6-1 setback. Richard is just 6-7 with a 4.62 ERA in 15 home starts. I like the Rockies -124 for my MLB picks here, Anderson has been unhittable since coming back and Richard is just 1-2 with a 9.98 ERA in three starts against the Rockies.
