We browse the early odds board in search of betting value on Thursday's slate. Read on and find out two MLB picks to maximize your profits before the weekend starts.

Rays vs. Yankees

Right-hander Chris Archer (7-6, 3.77 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) takes the hill for the Rays after suffering a tough loss in his last start, when he gave up four runs (one earned) on four hits (one home run) and one walk with 11 strikeouts over seven innings of a 4-3 setback against the Rangers last Saturday. Archer has struck out at least eight batters in each of his last four starts and Aaron Judge is just 1-for-6 against him.

CC Sabathia (9-3, 3.44 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) will get the ball for the Yankees after a solid performance against the Mariners last Saturday, when he allowed just one earned run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in five innings of a 5-1 win. Sabathia has given up just one earned run in 11 innings over his last two starts and he's 2-0 with an 0.90 ERA in two starts against the Rays this season. I'm looking at Under 8.5 at +100 MLB odds as Archer and Sabathia continue to dominate.

Cubs vs. White Sox

Jon Lester (7-6, 3.95 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) starts for the Cubs after winning his second straight outing, giving up just two earned runs on three hits (two home runs) with zero walks and 10 strikeouts over eight innings of a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals last Saturday. Lester has allowed just three earned runs in 15 innings of work over his last two starts to lower his ERA from 4.25 to 3.96 and Avisail Garcia is just 2-for-10 against him.

Mike Pelfrey (3-7, 4.46 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) will make his 19th appearance of the season (17th start), looking for his first win since June 17. Pelfrey allowed just one earned run on two hits with six walks and four strikeouts over five innings to get a no-decision in a 7-2 loss against the Royals last Saturday but he's just 1-3 with a 4.03 ERA in nine home appearances (eight starts). I'm taking Lester and the Cubs -1.5 (-145) with my MLB picks here.
