We browse the early odds board in search of betting value on Friday's card. Read on and find two MLB picks that will maximize your profits at the start of the weekend.

Reds vs. Pirates

Right-hander Luis Castillo (2-7, 3.26 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) takes the hill for the Reds, looking to avoid losing his third straight decision. Castillo pitched well against the Pirates last Saturday, giving up just one earned run on three hits (one home run) with one walk and nine strikeouts in seven innings of a 1-0 loss and he's 0-3 over his last five starts despite posting a 2.76 ERA in that span.
Gerrit Cole (11-8, 3.99 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) starts for the Pirates after pitching seven scoreless innings on five hits while striking out six in a 1-0 win against the Reds last Saturday. Cole had allowed nine earned runs over his previous 12 1/3 innings, covering two starts. I'm looking at Under 8 at -120 MLB odds, Castillo is an underrated starter and Cole is getting back on track for a strong stretch run.

Royals vs. Twins

Jason Hammel (6-10, 4.76 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) will start for the Royals after allowing four earned runs on six hits (three home runs) with one walk and four strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of a 4-0 loss against the Indians on Saturday. Hammel has now surrendered seven home runs in his last three starts after serving up just two over his previous six outings and he's just 2-5 with a 4.92 ERA in 11 road starts.

Dillon Gee (1-1, 3.53 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) will make his 11th appearance (third start) of the season, coming off a loss against the Blue Jays last Saturday, when he gave up four earned runs on seven hits (two home runs) with one walk and five strikeouts in just four innings of a 10-9 setback. Gee is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA over his last six starts and he's posted a 1.83 ERA with one save in six home appearances (one start). The Royals have struggled offensively as of late so I'm taking a chance on the Twins -127 with my MLB picks here.
