We browse the early odds board in search of betting value on Friday's card. Read on and find two MLB picks that will maximize your profits at the start of the weekend.

Pirates vs. Blue Jays

Right-hander Jameson Taillon (6-5, 4.60 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) takes the hill for the Pirates after giving up two earned runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 5-4 win against the Padres last Sunday. Taillon had allowed 17 earned runs over his previous 6 2/3 innings, so Sunday's effort is something to build on.

Marcus Stroman (10-5, 3.17 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) will get the ball for the Blue Jays. The right-hander pitched well against the Astros last Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on 11 hits and two walks with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings to get a no-decision in a 7-6 loss.

Stroman has now given up just 13 earned runs through 52 1/3 innings over his last eight starts and he ranks fourth in the American League with a 3.17 ERA, sixth with 145 innings pitched and seventh with 10 wins. I'm taking the Blue Jays at -155 MLB odds here, Taillon looked good on Sunday but I can't trust him right now.

Astros vs. Rangers

Charlie Morton (9-4, 3.78 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) will start for the Astros after a allowing three earned runs on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in seven innings to get a no-decision in a 4-3 loss against the Blue Jays last Saturday. Morton has been phenomenal as of late, going 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA over his last three starts.

Cole Hamels (6-1, 3.59 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) will make his 14th start for the Rangers. Hamels gave up an unearned run on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts during a complete-game win over the Twins on Saturday. It was Hamels' third start without allowing an earned run during his last eight appearances and he's 4-0 with a 3.12 ERA in six home starts. I'm looking at Under 9.5 (+104) for my MLB picks as Morton and Hamels have been lights out recently.
