Our very own MLB handicapping professional takes us through his two top totals selections for Monday. Don’t make a wager today without first reading this compelling betting preview article.
Rockies (De La Rosa) vs. Braves (Teheran) 7:10 PM ET
Jorge De La Rosa has pitched much better on the road this season compared to hitter friendly Coors Field. The Rockies southpaw has compiled a very good 3.17 ERA in ten road starts. He also enters today in good form over his previous three starts, evidenced by a sparkling 2.50 ERA in those outings. Colorado’s offensive numbers on the road are significantly less daunting than at home. They’re averaging just 3.5 runs per game and hitting a poor .235 as a team away from Coors Field.
Julio Teheran has a stellar 2.44 ERA in twelve starts at home in 2015. Teheran has displayed superb form during his last three starts, compiling a 2.41 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. He’s seen both career starts at home versus Colorado go under the total, and posted an excellent 0.82 ERA in those outings. Atlanta has scored 3 runs or less in seven of their previous eight games, and has 9 hits or less in twelve of the last thirteen. The Braves are averaging a miniscule 2.8 runs per game, and hitting a pathetic .217 as a team in twenty-three games when facing southpaw starting pitcher.
According to current MLB betting odds at Heritage, they’re the only major sportsbook with a total of 7.5 on this game, and the rest are at 7.0. Since I like this to be a low scoring affair, they’ll certainly be getting my action.
MLB Pick: Play on the Rockies and Braves Under 7.5 (-115) at Heritage.
Red Sox (Kelly) vs. White Sox (Samardzija) 8:10 PM ET
Joe Kelly is coming off outstanding performances in his previous two starts. However, it must be noted, both of those outings came at Fenway Park. Kelly has a sizable 5.63 ERA and 1.55 WHIP during nine starts on the road. He’s made one start versus the White Sox this season, and allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits while lasting just 3 1/3 innings. The Red Sox are 12-1-1 over the total during their previous fourteen games, and have scored 6 runs or more in eleven of the last fifteen.
The White Sox are 4-0 over the total in their previous four, and averaged 7.7 runs per game. They’ve also seen all four meetings with Boston this year go over the total. Jeff Samardzija has posted a large 8.01 ERA and gone 4-1 over the total in his last five starts.
This game has all the earmarks of a high scoring affair, and that’s going to be one of my MLB picks on Monday. Heritage requires the least amount of juice pertaining to this wager.
MLB Pick: Play on the Red Sox and White Sox Over 8.5 (-105).
