The Twins square off against the Red Sox tonight in their first game of the series and so will the Rays vs. Angels. Boost your MLB picks with these player props for both games.

Twins vs. Red Sox:

Most hits, runs and RBIs -- Brian Dozier (even) vs. Dustin Pedroia (-130)

Total hits, runs and RBIs -- David Ortiz 'over/under' 2.5

Total hits, runs and RBIs -- Joe Mauer O/U 2

Total strikeouts -- Mike Pelfrey -- O/U 2.5

Total strikeouts -- Clay Buchholz O/U 5

The Sox come off a disastrous seven-game road trip in which they won just once. Not only are they last in the division but also have the  worst run differential in the American League at minus-48 so this isn't some fluke. At least they play in the awful AL East and are just four games out of first. The pitching staff has been terrible with an ERA of 4.53 that's 27th in the majors, which is something to consider when looking at the MLB odds. The starters' ERA is 5.05, which is better than only Milwaukee (5.10). That's ridiculous. All those experts who were worried that Boston didn't have a true No. 1 are looking wise right now. The Sox have lost the past three outings of Buchholz (2-6, 4.33) even though he has had a quality start in each. He pitched in Minnesota last time out, allowing two runs and striking out four in 7.1 innings. He has 62 strikeouts in 60.1 innings. Dozier hasn't had much success in his career off Buchholz, going 3-for-16 with a double and RBI. Mauer is better, going 7-for-19 with three doubles and an RBI. Ortiz is not having a good season, batting only .224 with six homers and 18 RBIs. He recently took a seat for a few games to get his head right. Ortiz has just two home runs in his past 111 at-bats and had only seven RBIs in May. He is 1-for-5 with a double and RBI career off Pelfrey (4-1, 2.77). He got the win opposite Buchholz last time out, holding the Sox to a run and five hits over seven innings, striking out four. He has just 26 strikeouts in 52.0 innings. Pedroia is 2-for-6 career off him.

MLB Free Picks: 'Over' both pitchers' strikeouts, Pedroia over Dozier, 'under' on Ortiz and Mauer.

Rays vs. Angels:

Most hits, runs and RBIs -- Evan Longoria (-105) vs. David Freese  (-125)

Total hits, runs and RBIs -- Mike Trout 'over/under' 2.5

Total strikeouts -- Alex Colome O/U 3.5

Total strikeouts -- Garrett Richards -- O/U 5.5

Who will record more strikeouts -- Richards (-2) vs. Colome

Potential playoff preview  here. The Rays are tied for first in the AL East with the Yankees and it might only take a .500 record to win that division. Tampa's Kevin Cash has to be an AL Manager of the Year candidate  considering all the pitching injuries that team has dealt with this season. The Angels are starting to play better, having won four straight, which can influence our MLB picks. They are second in the AL West, four games behind Houston.  Richards emerged as the Angels' ace last season before missing the end of the year with a serious knee injury. That delayed his start to this season but Richards (4-3, 3.12) has pretty much picked up where he left off. Actually he has been a bit shaky in his past two starts, allowing 10 runs and 17 hits over 12.2 innings against the Red Sox and Padres. He has 43 strikeouts in 52.0 innings. Richards hasn't faced the Rays this season. He didn't see them last year, either. Longoria is 0-for-5 with an RBI and two strikeouts off him. Colome (3-1, 4.55) has allowed three runs or less in all but one of his six outings this season. He has 22 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. He has never faced the Angels. Freese is batting .230 on the season with eight homers and 28 RBIs. He has a hit in five straight games. Trout is batting .295 with 12 homers and 27 knocked in. He also has a hit in five straight.

MLB Free Picks: Longoria over Freese, 'over' Richards, 'under' Colome, Richards over Colome and 'over' Trout.
