There are only eight games on the agenda tonight, so you know the MLB betting lines aren't going to be easy to crack. The biggest favorites on the board are the Dodgers, listed at -200 over the White Sox at home, but it's total plays that take over tonight's baseball betting report.

Kansas City Royals (Duffy) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (Miller)
Covered by Willie Bee
The Cardinals have cooled off quite a bit and now find themselves four games behind the Brewers for first place in the NL Central. The Royals have lost two in a row and are 3-7 over their previous 10 games.

It's a pitching matchup featuring Shelby Miller and Danny Duffy and Willie thinks we'll see the offenses step up their game. For the first of our many recommended total plays tonight, he's on the OVER.

MLB Pick: OVER 7.5

Chicago White Sox (Quintana) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (Kershaw)
Covered by Willie Bee
It wasn't the best of outings from Zack Greinke last night, with Pittsburgh getting some timely hits on their way to a victory. The Dodgers now stand at 30-28 overall despite a horrible 12-17 record at home.

With Clayton Kershaw (3-2, 3.57 ERA) pitching, Los Angeles is a huge favorite on the MLB betting odds board. However, Willie is actually liking another total play and once again is siding with the OVER.

MLB Pick: OVER 6.5

Pittsburgh Pirates (Morton) vs. San Diego Padres (Stauffer)
Covered by Ron Patrick
The Pirates will try to keep momentum going after closing out their series with the Dodgers with a victory. They're just 10-17 on the road this season, as they get ready to tangle with the Padres, who are 14-15 at home in 2014.

Charlie Morton has been one of the unluckiest pitchers in the majors, having posted a 1-7 record despite a rock-solid 3.29 ERA. For this series opener tonight, Ron is recommending the UNDER.

Boston Red Sox (Lackey) vs. Cleveland Indians (Masterson)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Remember that incredibly long losing streak the Red Sox suffered through last month? That seems like so long ago, now that Boston has reeled off seven straight wins to pull within six games of division-leading Toronto.

Justin Masterson (2-4, 5.21 ERA) and John Lackey (6-3, 3.27 ERA) will start for their respective teams tonight. After looking over the lines, Jeff is siding with momentum and putting his faith in the Red Sox again.

MLB Pick: Red Sox -115

Seattle Mariners (Hernandez) vs. New York Yankees (Phelps)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Felix Hernandez has been straight dealing lately and now comes up against a team he's very familiar with: the Yankees. New York has gone an even 5-5 SU over their last 10, as have the Mariners, who come in having gone a respectable 14-13 on the road.

If David Phelps (1-2, 3.38 ERA) can hold his own out there on the mound, the UNDER has a great change of hitting. Jeff agrees and is adding that play to his collection of plays.

MLB Pick: UNDER 7.5

New York Mets (Colon) vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Hernandez)
Covered by Ross Benjamin
The Phillies have struggled at home this season, a big part of the reason they're in last place in the NL East. They're a very poor 12-18 inside their own ballpark as they get set to host Bartolo Colon and the Mets once more.

Philadelphia will put the ball in the glove of Roberto Hernandez, who's 2-2 with a 3.76 ERA. Ross is banking on a lot of runs in a matchup between two rather unreliable pitchers. He's selecting the OVER.

MLB Pick: OVER 7.5
