With no NBA action on the agenda today, we can shift even more of our attention onto the baseball slate. We've got our daily look at the MLB betting odds up for viewing, a piece that also includes five of our favorite MLB picks for Monday.

Baltimore Orioles (Jimenez) vs. New York Yankees (Kuroda)
Covered by Willie Bee
The Yankees make their home debut this season, beginning with a three-game set against the Orioles. Hiroki Kuroda starts for New York, with Ubaldo Jimenez getting the call for Baltimore.

Jimenez wasn't at his best in his Orioles debut, getting tagged for five hits and four runs in six innings of a loss to Boston. As for Kuroda, he also picked up a losing decision in his debut, despite allowing only three hits and two runs.

For this afternoon, Willie thinks these two pitchers will step up, leading to a cashed ticket for UNDER backers.

Pick: UNDER 8.5

Texas Rangers (Scheppers) vs. Boston Red Sox (Lackey)
Covered by Jeff Grant
It hasn't been the best of starts for either the Red Sox or Rangers so far. Texas is at 3-3 for the season, with Boston even worse at 2-4.

The advantage, on the surface, appears to be with the Red Sox tonight though, as they send out John Lackey opposite Tanner Scheppers. Scheppers was beat up for eight hits and seven runs by the Phillies in his season debut.

What kind of MLB pick is Jeff taking for this evening? He's taking on the chalk and playing it safe with the better pitcher, backing the Red Sox to get the job done at home.

Pick: Red Sox -155

San Diego Padres (Erlin) vs. Cleveland Indians (Kluber)
Covered by Willie Bee
The Indians just closed out their three-game set with Minnesota by losing two straight. Can they get back on track when they welcome the Padres for another set of three home matchups?

Cleveland needs a much better outing from Corey Kluber after he couldn't even get out of the fourth inning (3.1 IP, 8 H, 5 ER) five days ago against Oakland. As for San Diego, they put the ball in Robbie Erlin's hands in what will be his first start of the season.

Willie likes Cleveland today, primarily because they've been a team that's had a lot of success against lefties. He's taking the Indians to win on the run-line, which is available at sportsbooks at a plus price of +145.

Pick: Indians -1.5 (+145)

Tampa Bay Rays (Moore) vs. Kansas City Royals (Vargas)
Covered by Jeff Grant
Both teams lost their latest games, with Kansas City falling 5-1 at home to the White Sox and Tampa Bay losing 3-0 in a home game against Yu Darvish and the Rangers.

Now they'll meet up in Kansas City, with Jason Vargas hoping to build off a great season debut which saw him give up only five hits and one run in Detroit. He'll be opposed by Matt Moore, who was solid but not spectacular five days ago versus Toronto.

Moore is the bigger name here and Tampa Bay has been getting a lot of love from oddsmakers, but Jeff feels better taking the Royals as small underdogs in this situation.

Pick: Royals +110

Oakland Athletics (Kazmir) vs. Minnesota Twins (Correia)
Covered by Matthew Jordan
With both teams standing at 3-3 for the season, one will move above .500 after this afternoon's game is over and done with.

We'll have Kevin Correia trying to out-duel Scott Kazmir, who was outstanding in his Athletics debut. He lasted 7 and 1/3 innings and allowed just five hits (zero runs) in a 6-1 win over Cleveland. Correia meanwhile pitched six reasonably effective innings (5 H, 2 ER) against the White Sox.

Matthew appreciates the apparent value on a home dog in this spot and is hoping Minnesota can get after Kazmir today.

Pick: Twins +112
