It's a shortened slate of games on Monday and we're covering four games very close on our daily odds report. Have oddsmakers left us any weak spots to take advantage of with our MLB picks?

New York Yankees (Phelps) vs. Texas Rangers (Darvish)
Covered by Willie Bee and Steven Suarez
We really feel bad for you Rangers fan. This team has been beyond brutal this season and there's little reason for optimism that things will get better.

Texas has been poor at home, going 19-32, yet they're favored at right around -145 because Yu Darvish is on the mound. He's 9-6 with a 2.92 ERA on the season and has been essentially the only bright psot on the pitching staff for the Rangers.

As for the Yankees, they've started off the second half strong and are still in the thick of things when it comes to the playoff race in the AL East. They turn to David Phelps, who's 5-4 with a 3.77 ERA, for tonight's encounter in Arlington.

We have two different picks here, with Willie on the UNDER and me liking the value that comes with the underdog Yankees.

MLB Pick: Willie: UNDER 8 // Steven: Yankees +130

Pittsburgh Pirates (Worley) vs. San Francisco Giants (Bumgarner)
Covered by Ron Patrick and Ross Benjamin
The Pirates refuse to go away, as they're only three games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central.

Pittsburgh, however, has really struggled on the road, going 21-28, so they could find it very difficult in this series against the Giants. The Pirates will be hoping to get a quality start out of Vance Worley, who's 3-1 with a 3.10 ERA.

Tonight Pittsburgh will battle with Madison Bumgarner and the Giants in the opener. Bumgarner is 12-7 with a 3.19 ERA on the year and is coming off a dominant outing in Philadelphia his last time out.

Again we have two different cappers covering this game. While Ron and Ross both agree that the UNDER appears to hold good value, Ron is going a step further and also adding Pittsburgh as underdogs to his MLB picks.

MLB Pick: Ron: Pirates +143 and UNDER 6 // Ross: UNDER 6.5

Toronto Blue Jays (Dickey) vs. Boston Red Sox (Buchholz)
Covered by Jeff Grant
There's still a lot of time for the Red Sox to make a huge run, but they really need to start stringing together wins. They're an even 5-5 over their last 10 games, putting them 10.5 games back of first place in the AL East.

Tonight Boston will be at home against Toronto, with Clay Buchholz and R.A. Dickey penciled in as the starters.

Buchholz (5-6, 5.50 ERA) hasn't had a great year by any stretch of the imagination, but he has shown signs that he's starting to get back to his best. Dickey (8-10, 4.04 ERA) has also been inconsistent, but he did help the Blue Jays to a 6-4 win over the Red Sox in his most recent start.

Given both pitchers have been more than beatable this season, we really don't fault Jeff for thinking the OVER is the best bet. Will the two offenses show up at Fenway?

MLB Pick: OVER 8.5

Washington Nationals (Zimmermann) vs. Miami Marlins (Eovaldi)
Covered by Jeff Grant
The Nationals and Braves are currently fighting it out for first place in the NL East, but we can't count out the Marlins just yet.

Why? Well, Miami has reeled off four straight wins and is now only seven games back of first place in the division.

We'll see if Nathan Eovaldi (5-6, 4.20 ERA) will be able to out-pitch Jordan Zimmermann, who checks in at 6-5 with a 3.20 ERA. The MLB betting odds show Washington favored at roughly -145 at time of writing.

When it comes down to dishing out his free sports picks, Jeff has decided to add Miami as home underdogs.

MLB Pick: Marlins +135
