It’s time for our MLB handicapping professional to once again share his two top totals picks of the day. Go inside to find out what those MLB picks are and why he chose them.

Cubs (Lester) vs. Reds (DeScalfani) 7:10 PM ET
John Lester has seen his last three starts all go under the total. During those outings, Lester posted a stellar 2.86 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. The veteran southpaw has gone 19-10 (65.6%) under the total during his starts in 2015. The Cubs have gone under the total in each of their previous seven, and those contests averaged a combined 4.0 runs scored per game. The Cubbies had a horrible .547 OPS during that seven game stretch, and also a poor .194 team batting average as well.

Anthony DeScalfani hasn’t been sharp during his last two outings. However, DeScalfani has pitched extremely well in four stars against the Cubs this season, posting a sparkling 1.88 ERA, and none of those games went over the total. Cincinnati enters today on a ten game losing streak, and has averaged a paltry 2.2 runs scored per outing during that futile stretch.

This has the earmarks of a low scoring game, and I’m going to follow that path when making one of my MLB picks today. When deciphering all of Wednesday’s MLB odds, 5Dimes required the least amount of juice for this specific wager.

MLB Pick: Cubs & Reds Under 7.5 (-115) at 5Dimes

Tigers (Boyd) vs. Rangers (Gallardo) 8:05 PM ET
Matt Boyd has pitched markedly better during recent starts, but I still bestow little faith in him. The Tigers southpaw has gone 0-4 in his road team starts this season with a mammoth 9.87 ERA, 2.20 WHIP, and surrendered 6 home runs in just 17 1/3 innings pitched. Detroit has seen only nine of their previous twenty-nine games stay under the total. They’ve also gone 46-27 (63%) over the total on the road this year.

Yovani Gallardo has displayed bad form in his previous three starts. During that stretch, Gallardo posted a large 6.43 ERA and a massive 2.07 WHIP. Texas has seen just two of their previous sixteen games stay under the total. The Rangers have averaged 6.3 runs per game and compiled an impressive .808 OPS in their last seven.

The first two games of this series have produced a combined 24 runs scored. There’s no reason to believe that high scoring trend will change on Wednesday with all things being considered.

MLB Pick: Tigers & Rangers Over 9.0 (-115) at Bovada
