It looked like we were well on our way to a victory on Friday night between Miguel Sano and Paul Goldschmidt. However, Sano went nuts late in that game and cost us what should have been a quality win. However, with the Pirates and Cardinals playing tonight, I am about to get the rage cash machine back in action for Sunday Night Baseball

Andrew McCutchen O/U 2 runs, hits and RBI

While Andrew McCutchen has cooled off some lately, especially in this series, that could very well change this evening in the rubber match against the Cardinals. McCutchen is up against a familiar foe tonight in Mike Leake. These two have 94 career appearances against one another, and McCutchen has hit very well most of those at bats.

He has 2 homers and 6 RBI against Leake in his career, slashing .271/.340/.365 over that stretch. While the power is somewhat down against him, it’s still reassuring to have so many at bats against a pitcher, especially with an over/under of just 2 for this prop.

There is also the fact that Leake has not been great lately. In his last start he gave up eight earned runs in 4.1 innings of work, and over his last four starts he is 0-3, while allowing 18 runs over 20.1 innings of work. ‘

If McCutchen can get things going this evening against Leake, look for this prop to be a great over play. Even with the betting odds sitting at -140 for the over, it’s a strong play against a suddenly struggling Leake.

My MLB Pick: OVER 2 (-140) @ Bovada

5 Inning Line  - O/U 5 ½ runs

So far this series has been two things, rain soaked and high scoring. The Cardinals dropped 11 runs in the first two games before almost coming back and winning in the ninth on Saturday. There have been more than 5 ½ runs scored in all three of the games so far, and the over looks like a fine value tonight on Sunday Night Baseball.

We have already touched briefly on Leake’s struggles lately, but while Ivan Nova’s stats on the surface may look good, he has been prone to giving up the long ball over the second half.

Even though Nova had an impressive start against the Brewers his last time out, he allowed 11 home runs over his prior seven starts. He’s only faced the Cardinals once this year, and it was way back at the beginning of the season. If this new red-hot Cardinals offense can continue to play well tonight, while Leake gives up some early runs, look for there to be plenty of early offense, and maybe these starters get run early.

My MLB Pick: OVER 5 ½ (-105) @ Bovada
