Arguably the best matchup today takes place in San Francisco, and it looks like it will be a great pitching matchup of two very good south paw starters. We are going to discuss the total and how to take advantage of the lines since Oddsmakers have come out with a very low number.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Rich Hill takes the mound for Los Angeles and comes in with a 2.05 ERA and 0.98 whip while holding a 0.82 ERA versus San Francisco this season in two starts. The rejuvenated Hill has been outstanding this year and on the road, he has been particularly good with a 1.74 ERA, 8-1 record, and batters hitting just .167 against him. Although he has had quite the success against the Giants he just faced them over a week where they only garnered one earned run, but they also got six hits off in five innings. I've been very impressed with him on the mound this season but we are still talking about a guy with a 4.10 career ERA in 220 appearances with 93 of them being starts. Yes, he has had an excellent season so far but also this will be the first time this season where a team has seen him for the third time. The Giants are due to some damage against him tonight.

San Francisco Giants

Madison Bumgarner gets the start for San Francisco and comes in with a 2.71 ERA and 1.02 whip but 3.91 ERA versus the Dodgers this season in four starts. He has been hot and cold versus Los Angeles like giving up five earned runs off of nine hits in five innings in Los Angeles at the end of August, but then allowing zero earned runs off of one hit in seven innings in LA again just 10 days ago. Of course being at home we can expect him to pitch well tonight with his 2.04 ERA and batters hitting just .189 against him in San Francisco. However, this will be the fifth time he faced the Dodgers this season and they have had some success against him hitting .250, not great numbers mind you but this is a really low total set by oddsmakers all across the board. I don't expect Los Angeles to put on an offensive showcase but I do expect for them to score.

L.A. Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants

Oddsmakers have came out with the total of 6 at most books with a bit of higher juice on the over. The number makes sense when you look at the overall numbers of these two pitchers but for my MLB pick I'm going to back over the total and pay a little bit higher juice like at Pinnacle. Of course you should check SBR to find which best sportsbooks have the best odds for this matchup but I like for both these teams to put up enough combined to get over this small total.
